We are proud to share this family’s joyous birth story!

Baby girl declared her birth position early on in the 3rd trimester (ROA). As the assigned “due date” came and went, baby girl picked her own birthday by breaking her bag of water and surprising mom with spontaneous labor. Contractions began in the early morning hours, with active labor starting soon after meeting her midwife at the birth center.

Mom labored quietly and intuitively, with dad providing sacral pressure and hip squeezes to ease the intensity of her back labor. Midwife and midwife student facilitated labor progress and optimal fetal positioning by using spinning babies releases and therapeutic touch. After a short nap, mom and dad took a walk outside and took in the warm sunny morning while curb walking.

Mom was ready to ease into the birth tub after feeling more pressure following her walk. The warm water was relaxing and allowed the last bit of tension to melt away. She began pushing, gently and steadily, and allowed baby girl to crown slowly using counterpressure for comfort.

When mom was ready, a final push birthed her baby girl into her ready hands. She lifted baby girl from the water onto her chest and found herself overcome with immediate joy and relief! Teary eyes and full smiles filled the room as mom and dad locked eyes, and baby girl took her first breath.

As they settled into bed, big brothers joined the family to meet their baby sister and hold her for the first time. Grandma and the boys went home to settle in for the day, while mom, dad & baby girl recovered for a few hours.

Mom requested an herbal bath to promote healing and provide a craniosacral adjustment for baby girl. As the “birth high” wore off, mom & dad were ready to go home to get some rest with their perfect baby girl.

We are so honored to have been part of this family’s pregnancy and birth! 🥰

What a joy to witness such growth and transformation from the first time we met until now. From your blossoming confidence and maternal intuition at your birth, to mastering motherhood by listening to the subtle cues of your body and your baby. Always eager to learn, ask questions, lean on your support team, and advocate for yourself and baby. We are so proud of you!!

This is what midwifery care looks like; mother-led, midwife supported. Yes, these most beautiful moments are also interwoven with intensity, challenges, surprises, and last minute changes to the best laid plans. As midwives, we strive for our families to feel heard and in control of their care, to have all of their questions answered as they arise, have the physical & emotional support they need, and to reflect on their births and the care provided and know that their midwives were there for them the entire time.

It’s been a busy few weeks supporting a handful of new and experienced mothers welcome their babies into the world. 🌎 We will share more pictures and stories (with permission always) soon!

While millions of people were watching fireworks, we had the pleasure of witnessing this sweet family welcome their new baby into the world!

With such beauty and grace, in the comfort of their home, mom labored quietly with dad at her side. Her midwives and assistants gathered around, carefully monitoring and providing labor support.

Mom’s wisdom and intuition led her through multiple labor positions and finally into the birth pool as labor intensified. Dad received his baby boy with ready hands and a huge smile.

What a joy and a blessing to be with you through this most intimate and treasured experience!

What a beautiful start to July! These 3 gals had the honor and privilege of supporting a family through their birth last night.

We celebrate all the success of the evening; from conquering fears, to working through past trauma, from listening to intuition, to gaining a deeper understanding about one’s own body.

We are so proud of the coordinated efforts of this family to bring forth their healthy baby!

📣 We are proud to announce that our freestanding birth center is now Nationally Accredited! 📣

Our Colville Women’s Center & Birth Place is now the only state licensed and nationally accredited birth center in Steven’s County, and one of only two within 1.5 hours of Spokane.

We serve all of Steven’s County, as well as folks coming from Spokane, Pend Orielle, Ferry, & Lincoln Counties.

We bill insurance or negotiate reasonable cash prices for all of our services and the birth center facility fee.
