We get asked all the time, “Can my kiddos be there?”

And the answer is always yes, whether at home or the birth center. 🤍

Home birth is such a beautiful thing for children to witness. Birth has become so hidden away in our culture, and normalizing it for children is incredibly important. They get to watch their mother walk through one of the hardest, most powerful things a woman can do — and then witness the moment she brings new life into the world.

What an amazing thing for a child to see.

Children belong in the birth space too, and as long as mama wants them there, they are always welcome. ✨

We recommend having a dedicated adult available to keep charge of children to allow the birthing folks remain focused on the birth. Ask us about our doula program and other support options!

Let’s celebrate our midwives and student midwives today for International Day of the Midwife!

We are so grateful for our exceptional team of providers giving access to essential midwifery care for folks in rural northeast Washington.

Thank you for all the little and big sacrifices you make everyday to serve these families and offer a quality of care that exemplifies midwifery.

Holding a safe space for pregnant, birthing, and postpartum families in the setting of their choice, empowering them with knowledge, informed consent, shared decision making, and autonomy, and providing continuous support even when plans change and hospital interventions become necessary.

We see you. Thank you for choosing midwifery, where compassion, empathy and intuition are at the forefront of care.

And a final shout out to all of our support staff, doulas and assistants, who make it all possible! We appreciate each one of you and the critical roles you play both in the office and in the birth room.

I love this visual for seeing how the pelvis opens during labor!

With knees separated widely, the “inlet” of the pelvis opens. This is the upper portion, the entrance, of the pelvis and is a great position to encourage baby to lower/descend and engage in the pelvis, usually in the earlier parts of labor.

With knees closer together, and ankles wider apart, the “outlet” of the pelvis opens. This is the lower part, the exit, of the pelvis and is a great position when baby is already engaged and birther is ready to start pushing to continue moving baby down and out!

This sweet boy showed up to his 6 week appt smiling and sporting our logo!
We had the greatest honor of serving this lovely family through their pregnancy and birth.
We are blessed to have baby boy return for pediatric care and mom return for well-woman care, so we won’t have to miss them for too long!
