There are moments in home care that just stop you in your tracks and fill you with so much pride, gratitude, and inspiration. This week, we had one of those moments, and I can’t help but share it with all of you.
Two of our amazing caregivers, Val and Shelby, completely blew me away. They reminded me of what this work is really about: loving people deeply, protecting dignity, doing the hard things without hesitation, and showing up with everything they’ve got.
We had the privilege of caring for a truly wonderful woman on hospice. In those final days, Val and Shelby came together in a way you don’t see very often. They worked as a team flawlessly, communicating, training and guiding others, being a listening ear, offering a shoulder to cry on, and making sure this family had every ounce of comfort and support they needed.
Val promised this family that she was in it with them, no matter what, and she meant it. She and Shelby stayed the course through long days and nights, carrying the heavy parts so the family could focus on being present with their loved one. Watching them work together, love this client, and honor her with so much compassion left me in absolute awe.
There aren’t enough words to thank them for what they did, not just for this family, but for every single family they’ve ever worked with. Val and Shelby, you are everything it means to be a caregiver: strong, kind, determined, inspiring, and so full of heart.
We are beyond proud of you both and so grateful to have you on our team. The difference you’re making is something I’ll never forget, and I can’t wait to see the impact you’ll continue to have on the people we’re blessed to serve. 💜
