πŸ’™ Happy National Siblings Day! πŸ’™

At The Arc of Laramie County, we know siblings are often the longest relationships in our lives β€” the built-in best friends, the fiercest advocates, and the ones who show up no matter what.

For families in the disability community, siblings hold an extra special place. They celebrate the wins, stand up against the world when it isn't kind, and love unconditionally in a way that shapes lives forever. Brothers and sisters of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are often the lifelong champions, caregivers, and friends who make every day a little brighter.

Today, take a moment to tag, hug, call, or text your sibling and let them know how much they mean to you. πŸ’›

Share a photo of you and your sibling(s) in the comments β€” we'd love to see the bonds that make our Arc family so strong! πŸ‘«πŸ‘¬πŸ‘

Something special is coming to our page. πŸ’›

Starting soon, we're launching a 6-week Disability Awareness Series β€” six short videos on the ideas that have shaped how we advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Topics include people-first language, presuming competence, the dignity of risk, true inclusion, self-advocacy, and one of my all-time favorites: the 5-to-1 approach.

Whether you're a parent, a professional, or a friend of someone with a disability β€” or just curious to learn more β€” I hope you'll follow along. These are conversations that matter.

Follow our page so you don't miss a single one. πŸ’›

🎳 There's something special that happens at the Arc Bowling League β€” and it's not just the strikes.

Week after week, 60+ bowlers show up, lace up, and hit the lanes together. Some are working on their form. Some are there for the trash talk. Most are there because this is their people β€” and this is their time.

The Arc Bowling League is one of our longest-running programs for good reason. It's more than a sport. It's a place where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities build confidence, develop real skills, form genuine friendships, and have a genuinely great time doing it. Every ability level is welcome. Every bowler belongs.
If you've been looking for a fun, inclusive, low-pressure activity for yourself or someone you love β€” this is it.

πŸ“ž Want to learn more? Call us at 307-632-1209 or visit arcoflaramiecounty.org. The lanes are waiting. 🎳

πŸ“£ Cheyenne businesses β€” this one's for you.

Mardi Gras Gone Wrong, The Arc of Laramie County's murder mystery dinner fundraiser, is happening August 29, 2026 β€” and we're looking for sponsors who want to show up for their community in a big way.

This is a night of New Orleans cuisine, live entertainment, a silent and live auction, and an interactive murder mystery at the LCCC Clay Pathfinder Building. We're expecting a room full of engaged community members, and your business will be right in front of them.

Sponsorship tiers start at $150 and go up to $1,500, with benefits including reserved seating, VIP early access, logo placement in the event program and on our website, dedicated social media spotlight posts, and verbal recognition at the event. Every dollar raised goes directly to The Arc's programs supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Laramie County.

This is not just an ad buy. It's a statement that your business believes in inclusion β€” and Cheyenne notices that.

Every person with an intellectual or developmental disability has a unique story, unique strengths, and a unique vision for their own life. At The Arc of Laramie County, that's where we start.

Intellectual and developmental disabilities β€” including Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and others β€” affect how people learn, communicate, and interact with the world. What they don't affect is a person's right to be included, respected, and supported to live the life they choose.

Since 1954, The Arc of Laramie County has been in this community standing alongside people with IDD and their families. We advocate for their rights in schools, workplaces, and government. We connect families to Medicaid, DD waivers, and services that are hard to navigate alone. We build community through events, bowling leagues, self-advocacy groups, and monthly Arc-scursions β€” because belonging matters as much as benefits.

We see abilities first β€” because when you lead with what someone can do instead of what they can't, everything changes.

If you or someone you love needs support, we are here.

April 2 is World Autism Acceptance Day πŸ’™

Awareness asks people to know autism exists. Acceptance asks people to embrace autistic individuals as they are.
1 in 36 children in the U.S. is autistic. They grow into autistic adultsβ€”our neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family members.
Today and every day, we advocate for inclusion, understanding, and support that meets people where they are.

Our Story

The Arc of Laramie County is a grassroots nonprofit organization started in Laramie County in 1954 by a small group of parents who came together to be a voice for change for their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They wanted their children to lead fulfilling lives out in the community. Today the Arc of Laramie County is committed to expanding opportunities for people with disabilites to be included in their communities. The Arc promotes access to quality support services, assists families, provides training programs and builds a local network of advocates. The Arc of Laramie County is changing lives.
