This year's first heatstroke death is a heartbreaking reminder that these tragedies can happen to anyone. Most parents and caregivers believe it could never happen to them, but in most cases, the child is left behind unknowingly. Our hope is that no other family has to experience this kind of loss. As warmer weather returns, so does the risk. Even on a mild day, the inside of a car can heat up by nearly 20 degrees in just 10 minutes. These tragedies can happen when it’s as cool as 57 degrees outside. For heatstroke prevention tips, visit: www.safekids.org/heatstroke
