Welcome back Cheyenne Genealogical and Historical Society members.

I can't believe it's already September and Labor Day! Where did summer go?

The first Cheyenne Genealogical and Historical Society meeting of the 2025-2026 new year is only one week away, Tuesday, September 9 at 6:15 in the Sunflower Room on the third floor of the library. The program will be a sneak preview of the Cemetery Walk. At the business meeting we'll be discussing future programs. Learn about the many exciting options. The board members will provide the refreshments.

The final Cemetery Walk committee meeting will be Friday, September 12 at 3:00 in the Windflower Room on the third floor of the library. Please make every effort to attend. There are still a few odds and ends to be worked out.

The Cemetery Walk is Saturday, September 27. This year the Society is working with the library. The walking tours begin at 10:00 or 10:30 and should last about an hour and a half. Step back into Cheyenne's history as costumed re-enactors chat with a local guide about their lives during Frontier times.

Looking forward to seeing each of you in a week.

The 1921 Census for England and Wales is FREE on Ancestry until 9th March. Get researching your family now!
This is my favourite census as it includes place of work for the first time (although I do miss the number of years married and children born to the marriage in the 1911 census).
This is my great grandfather, Leslie Dengate living with his parents, Ernest Alfred and Agnes Lucy Dengate in Hastings, Sussex.
