🌱 Healing is a journey, not a race. 🌱

This simple image beautifully reminds us: growth is not always linear. Healing is hard, messy, and — most importantly — it takes time.

Wherever you are in your process, it’s okay. You are growing even when you can’t see it yet.

If you need support along the way, we’re here for you.

Perimenopause and menopause are profound yet often overlooked transitions that can significantly impact mental health. Many women experience heightened anxiety, depression, and even suicidal ideation due to fluctuating hormones, sleep disturbances, and societal stigma surrounding aging. Despite affecting half the population, these challenges remain under-discussed (and under-funded) in both healthcare and mainstream conversations.

Oprah Winfrey’s new special, The Menopause Revolution, Halle Berry’s Re-Spin platform and The Magic of Menopause course, and Naomi Watts’ book, Dare I Say It, are changing the narrative by shedding light on this critical issue. Through candid discussions and expert insights, they empower women to navigate peri/menopause with knowledge, support, and dignity — breaking the silence on a topic that has been ignored for too long.

🌟 Celebrating National Social Work Month 🌟

💜 We love you, Lori, Liz, Chelsea, Tori, and Jill! 💜

As we wrap up National Social Work Month, let’s take a moment to recognize the incredible impact social workers have on individuals, families, and communities. From mental health and child welfare to healthcare, education, and social justice, social workers play a vital role in creating a more just and compassionate society.

Each year, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) selects a theme to highlight key issues in the profession, raising awareness of social work’s impact and advocating for meaningful change. This month is a time to celebrate, uplift, and support those who dedicate their lives to helping others.

Want to show your appreciation? Here are some ways to participate:

📢 Share stories of impactful social work on social media using and .

🎤 Host or attend a panel discussion on social work issues.

🏢 Encourage businesses and organizations to recognize social workers in newsletters or announcements.

📝 Write to legislators about policies affecting social workers and the communities they serve.

✊ Attend advocacy events or rallies supporting social work initiatives.

📚 Educate others about social work’s role in mental health, healthcare, and social justice.

ADAA member Bernadine Waller, PhD, LMHC, and colleagues, in their NIH-published paper Should We Trust You?, highlight that “the underrepresentation of BIPOC mental health professionals adversely affects mental health help-seeking” in communities of color. They warn that without providers who share cultural, linguistic, and lived experiences, BIPOC individuals are more likely to remain distrustful of mental health services.

The shortage is even more pronounced when broken down by race:

💔 Hispanic & Latino: 1 therapist per 1,214 people
💔 Asian: 1 therapist per 920 people
💔 Black & African American: 1 therapist per 660 people
💔 Native American: 1 therapist per 125 people

In contrast, White therapists are available at more than three times the rate of BIPOC therapists.

Addressing this disparity is essential for equitable access to mental health care!
