A More Spacious Home: A Day of Reflection, September 13th at Siena Retreat Center in Racine, Wisconsin

Are you seeking a more empowering, expansive, and authentic spiritual home?

During this day of reflection, we will connect with the home that resides deep within and all around us. We will get in touch with our longings for inner stillness, community and more. We will re-imagine how we might discover, create and/or embody a more spacious sense of home.

Our time together will include contemplative practices, facilitator reflections, small and large group sharing, individual time, and creative expression.

This retreat will be facilitated by Bridget Purdome, Sacred Ground Chicago.

Keep Calm and Carry On: A Weekend of Connection and Reflection

You’ve probably seen the iconic British signs that read, “Keep Calm and Carry On” and their witty variations like, “Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake,” “Keep Calm and Harry (Potter) On,” or “Keep Calm and Call Mom.”

During this weekend, we will explore questions like: Is it possible and desirable to “Keep Calm and Carry On” in the midst of our chaotic world and lives? How might we connect with a deeper sense of inner peace and stillness in these devastating times? How might we develop greater awareness, courage and compassion to care for others and our climate? Where are we finding inspiration?

Our time together will include contemplative practices, time in nature, group sharing, individual reflection and more.

About Us

Sacred Ground Chicago is an urban center for spirituality, staffed by professionals who provide personalized, practical support for you on your spiritual journey. We offer people of all faiths, or no faith, a spiritual oasis right here in the city where you can tend your soul. Our programs and services are grounded in the world’s shared heritage of spiritual wisdom and resources.

Our approach to learning is experiential, one that engages the whole person, and includes methods such as movement, storytelling, small group sharing, and the arts. We intend our offerings to be relational, to help you to connect more deeply with your true self, one another, and the divine.

This passage from We Make the Road by Walking, by Brian D. McLaren, sums up our wish for those who use our services and attend our programs:

“What we all want is pretty simple, really. We want to be alive. To feel alive. Not just to exist but to thrive, to live out loud, walk tall, breathe free. We want to be less lonely, less exhausted, less conflicted and afraid . . . more awake, more grateful, more energized and purposeful. We capture this kind of mindful, overbrimming life in terms like well-being, shalom, blessedness, wholeness, harmony, life to the full, and aliveness.”
