Our Story

In 1997, after completing his medical training, Dr. Clarence William Brown Jr. began his clinical career as a dermatologist at Lincoln Park Dermatology and in 2000 opened his own practice: Advanced Skin and Mohs Surgery Center in Skokie, IL. In just a few short years, Dr. Brown accepted the position ‘Director of Mohs Micrographic and Dermatologic Surgery’ at RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago, IL where he remained until 2009 when he again branched out and planted a new office in St. Joseph, MI.

After faithfully serving Southwest Michigan for over 7 years, Dr. Brown launched a renovation project in November 2016 and acquired all new equipment in order to bring the latest state-of-the-art technology to his practice. Dr. Brown was “anchored in the stylish brick building at the corner of Niles Road and Lincoln Avenue, but the new technology in house makes Advanced Skin the region’s most advanced dermatology and outpatient Mohs Micrographic Surgical facility.” -Moody on the Market: 12-12-16

Dr. Brown’s practice has rapidly increased in locations over the last few years with plans for continued expansion. He currently has 4 locations in Michigan, Lincoln Park, Niles and Swedish Covenant with plans to open a location in the new year at Resurrection. His Lincoln Park location is located in the beautiful Presence Center for Advanced Care overlooking the Chicago skyline. The Niles location will open in a brand-new facility in Morton Grove which will include a state of the art dermatopathology lab.

What sets ASMSC apart is the full spectrum of services from general dermatology, cosmetics, lasers, radiation, and the newest addition being plastic surgery. The practice utilizes a variety of approaches to treat skin cancers including Mohs and radiation therapy. Dr. Brown’s extensive career and experiences make him a well-respected leader in the dermatological field. The ASMSC team is ever-expanding in providers and services with a collaborative team who provide the highest levels of patient care.
