🌍 World Su***de Prevention Day: Be the Light for Someone💛

Today, we recognize the importance of being there for others, especially when they may be struggling silently. Subtle signs of distress, like withdrawing from friends, mood swings, or changes in eating and sleeping habits, can often be overlooked. It's essential to check in on loved ones, listen without judgment, and offer your support when someone needs it most. Simply reaching out with a message or asking how they’re feeling can make all the difference. Remember, even small acts of kindness can save lives.

✨ “Your presence can be someone's lifeline."

Was a great experience!! Definitely will do it again.

Meet the wonderful Kyerra Hende! She is the recipient of a FREE Reiki session as part of our Heal the Healers campaign, a year-long crusade to give-back to helpers and healers everywhere!

Kyerra is one of those incredible people who has a fire that burns so bright that she is driven to have a hand in many projects, working for the good of those she serves. She works part time as a therapist with Graceful Growth Counseling Services, P.C, where her focus is assisting individuals in overcoming life stressors and trauma. She helps others take a deep dive into understanding past experiences to better make sense of how it may be presenting itself today. She aims to work with individuals on a more holistic level as she knows innately that everything is connected.

Kyerra also serves the community by assisting individuals locate housing, employment, community resources, and help individuals returning to civilization after incarceration get acclimated. She volunteers with a community garden and other organizations to give back to marginalized communities.

Delayed does not mean denied!

It takes faith and patience to wait for what we are expecting. Just because something didn’t happen when we wanted or expected it, doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen at all. We must ensure that we are truly ready for what we’re asking for, understanding that sometimes our plan is not God’s plan. Trust the timing and believe that what's meant for you will find its way when the time is right!

Stress is great because it keeps you alert and on your toes! However it becomes a problem when you’re under constant stress.

When you’re stressed your body think it needs to prepare for flight or fight and releases stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. As we may know, these hormones cause your heart to beat faster and your blood vessels to tighten which in turn, increases the pressure of blood flowing through your vessels. This consistently happening can result in a constant increase in your blood pressure and lead to heart disease.

In regard to Diabetes, these stress hormones signal your liver to release more glucose (sugar) into your bloodstream to give you a quick boost of energy! However, constantly being stressed can make you insulin resistant which causes the sugar to stay in the blood instead of being used by the cells, resulting in high blood sugar.

Embrace the sunshine for a mood boost! Getting outside when the sun is shining is a simple way to support your mental health. With changes in weather affecting our well-being, soaking up sunlight helps fend off seasonal blues like Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Take a step outside and let the sunshine brighten your day ☀️

Try doing this when the sun is highest in the sky, between 11am-3pm!

Please wear sunscreen if needed.

Protecting your peace isn’t just a luxury—it’s a necessity. This goes for anything! Even if it is being mindful of those you allow in your home as that is our sacred place.

Your peace of mind is priceless; don’t let anything cost you that!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

This month highlights the ongoing importance of conversations surrounding mental health! There's a growing normalization of these discussions, acknowledging the significance of mental well-being and the need for serious attention. We know from studies such as, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) how factors like abuse, neglect, witnessing violence, parental divorce, relative incarceration, and substance use can profoundly impact mental health and overall well-being. This is why it is vital to be proactive in maintaining your mental health!

You can proactively maintain mental health by:

1. Regularly engaging in self-care practices (regular exercise, sufficient sleep, balanced nutrition, meditation, etc.).

2. Seeking professional help through therapy or counseling if needed.

3. Build strong social connections and nurturing relationships with friends and family.

4. Engaging in hobbies or activities that bring joy and fulfillment

5. Set boundaries to manage stress

6. Practice self-compassion

By prioritizing these proactive steps, individuals can empower themselves to safeguard their mental well-being and thrive in their daily lives.
