"What's the most powerful antioxidant?" is one of my favorite questions to ask patients looking to improve health. Responses range from blueberries, to supplements, to red wine. But the answer - in fact - is sleep. I encourage clinicians to ask about sleep as if it was a vital sign like blood pressure and temperature. MRIs done early for uncomplicated low back pain and routine vitamin D tests "just to be thorough" are considered "low-value care" and can lead to further testing that can cost patients thousands.

I just worked with a patient who has a severe case of Achilles tendon pain. Isometric exercises where tension is held without repeated contractions is a safe and effective way to begin addressing tendon problems. Here's a video showing how to start treating Achilles tendon pain. A good plan for recovery will progress from this point to include other exercises until you're feeling better and fully functional.
