The ending of an era!

24 years ago we dropped our oldest child off at Marquette University and yesterday we watched our youngest graduate from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville!

24 years of having at least one, sometimes two, children in college!

And would you believe, of the nine kids, only one school was repeated?

We sent kids to Loyola University, University of Illinois Urbana and Chicago, Illinois State University, Harper College, Waubonsee College, Universal Technical Institute, Worsham College, Cardinal Stritch, Marquette and UT Knoxville.

Now we have more four years before we watch our oldest grandchild head to college!

It’s hard to believe Rekindled Hearts has been out for over 2 months now!

I’ve been so edified by those of you who have reached out to let me know how the book, or a particular chapter, has impacted your marriage for the good!

When I was writing the book, I told myself if it helped a single person it would be worth it!

And it has already been more than worth it!

💡 Big feelings are real—but they don’t have to rule us.

One of the greatest lessons we can teach our children is that emotions are good—they tell us something about what’s happening inside. But emotions should never be in the driver’s seat of our decisions.

Instead of dismissing or suppressing feelings, we can help our kids:
�🧠 Name their emotions (“I feel frustrated.”)
�❤️ Accept their emotions (“It’s okay to feel this way.”)
�💪 Choose their response (“Even though I’m mad, I can still be kind.”)

When kids learn that emotions are important but not in charge, they grow into emotionally strong, self-controlled, and virtuous adults. And that’s a lesson that lasts a lifetime.
