Wanted to take a moment to highlight Rebecca Groen, MSN, FNP-BC.

Rebecca brings a strong background in family medicine, urgent care, patient education, and nursing instruction. She serves patients of all ages and has experience in areas like diabetes, weight loss, women’s health, and holistic health.

What stood out to me is her passion for educating patients and helping people feel supported, not just treated.

For anyone in the Crown Point or Northwest Indiana area looking for family medicine, walk-in care, or a strong local healthcare resource, Rebecca and Pinnacle Hospital are absolutely worth knowing.

Huge congratulations to my coworker Jacob Raymond Jerwers on 8 years in long-term recovery yesterday.

Eight years is not just a date. It represents courage, consistency, growth, and a whole lot of days choosing recovery no matter what life looked like.

I’m grateful to work alongside people who don’t just talk about hope, they live it. Jacob’s story is another reminder that people do recover, lives do change, and the work we do matters.

Proud of you, brother. 8 years is huge. Keep leading by example.

It takes a lot of courage to accept help when you’re stuck in active addiction or alcoholism.

The fear, shame, pride, and hopelessness someone may experience before they finally become willing to accept help is real.

As I come up on 11 years in active long-term recovery, I believe this more than ever.

One of the strongest things a person can do is let someone help them.

That moment can feel like the end, but that feeling is not the whole truth. While it may be the end of one way of living, it can also be the beginning of something far more freeing.

If you’re struggling, love someone who is struggling, or work with people who are, please don’t lose hope.

People do recover.

I wanted to take a minute to highlight Monica Frances, LCSW, CADC, owner and founder of Unearthed Therapy.

Monica’s work stood out to me because of her compassionate, direct approach to healing, especially around trauma, substance use, resilience, and helping people move through shame without judgment.

Unearthed Therapy offers individual and couples therapy, currently provided virtually, making it an accessible option for people looking for quality support.

I’m a big believer in building stronger bridges between therapists, counselors, social workers, psychologists, and community providers. The more connected we are, the better we can help people find the right support at the right time.

Please keep Monica and Unearthed Therapy in mind as a quality therapy resource.

Banyan Heartland’s Mental Health Residential Program has now been open for about a month, and I wanted to continue highlighting what an important resource this is for Illinois.

This is a dedicated 12-bed residential track for individuals struggling with primary mental health concerns, separate from substance use programming.

For providers, clinicians, hospitals, families, or community partners, this gives another option when someone needs a higher level of care, stabilization, structure, and support.

Feel free to share so anyone who may need this resource has a better opportunity to see it.

For questions about fit, admissions, or next steps, call/text me directly at 708-925-7972
or email nick.cialdella@banyancenters.com.

I want to clear something up because it’s important.

There was a phone number ending in 0830 that was associated with me for years. That has not been my number since November 2024. Any calls or messages to that number since then have not reached me.

If you, a loved one, a provider, or anyone seeking help with substance use or mental health has tried reaching me there, my number is, and has been:

📞 708-925-7972

Please share this. People and families may be reaching out and not getting support.

Even one share could help this reach someone who has been trying to get help.

Thank you for sharing. 🙏
