Reconsiderations and appeals are two very different processes.

One allows you to strengthen your evidence.

The other reviews the record as it stands.

Understanding that distinction can prevent unnecessary delays.

A denial doesn’t always mean “no.”

It often means:
“Provide stronger documentation.”

Reconsideration is about evidence, not emotion.

Meet the Confidence Machine, also known as our vibration plate 💪

It’s one of the tools we use in rehab to:
- Warm up muscles
- Improve blood circulation
- Support weight management
- And more!

Our patients love it because it’s simple, effective, and helps the body heal faster.

Many OWCP denials aren’t because the injury didn’t happen.

They happen because causation wasn’t clearly documented.

Understanding what OWCP looks for can prevent avoidable denials before they start.

Supervisors play an administrative role, not a decision-making one.

OWCP determines eligibility.

Your doctor determines medical restrictions.

Understanding who has authority can prevent unnecessary confusion and delays.

ECOMP showing “submitted” doesn’t mean your claim is approved or even reviewed.

There are still steps that happen behind the scenes.

Knowing what to monitor (and when to follow up) keeps your claim moving.

A dog bite on your route is not “just a dog bite.”

It is a federal work injury.

If you are bitten while delivering mail or performing your job duties, you should file a CA-1 for a traumatic injury. You may also be eligible for a CA-16, which can authorize medical treatment right away.

But here’s what most employees don’t realize…

A dog bite can also qualify as a third-party claim.

That means:
• Your OWCP claim covers medical and wage benefits.
• You may also have a claim against the homeowner’s insurance.
• Both processes can exist at the same time.

It is not one or the other.

Too many employees are told, “That’s not OWCP — that’s third party.”

That is incorrect.

If you were on duty, it is a work injury.

The #1 mistake we see in OWCP cases?

Doctors don’t separate the work-related injury from any previous conditions, and that’s where claims get denied.

Your medical report needs to show what’s connected to your on-the-job injury clearly.

If not, you could lose coverage for surgeries, therapy, and other needed treatments.

At FIC Chicago, we get it right the first time because your recovery shouldn’t depend on someone else’s paperwork mistake.

Don’t lose coverage over a technicality. Message us today.
