That’s why timely diagnosis, ongoing monitoring, and strict adherence to a gluten-free diet matter, even when symptoms aren’t present.

Awareness goes beyond how you feel.

Did you know that people with may also have lactose and/or fructose intolerance? Damage to the small intestine from active celiac disease can make it harder to properly digest certain sugars, leading to symptoms like bloating, gas, abdominal pain, or diarrhea — even when someone is following a gluten-free diet.

The good news: lactose and fructose intolerance can be easily diagnosed, and symptoms often improve with the right dietary adjustments and proper management of celiac disease.

If you’re continuing to have digestive symptoms, talk with your healthcare provider. Understanding the full picture can make living well with celiac disease easier.
