‼️Semi- Annual Dentist Appointment‼️

When you’re transplanted, some of your anti-rejection medications may cause your bone density to decrease. I lost one ☝🏾 whole tooth 🦷 less than a month post-op. Most of my molars were hypersensitive and some cracked — so they had to be sealed. But today, was a regular dentist 🪥 visit that included a few revisions.

‼️‼️🏆Today was a WIN 🏆‼️‼️
I met with my P*P today for a follow up of all “the things” that have transpired since our last visit. He reviwed my records and then he LISTENED and LOOKED at me 🤯

In full transparency, I’ve avoided posting selfies 📸(as frequently) because the person I saw, was unfamiliar to me. I had grown to love the slender face, and “not so big back” 😂. My P*P validated my thoughts/experiences, analyzed my history and acknowledged that I was in fact “not the same person I was 90 or 9 days ago”. I felt “seen” — his next move was to generate a solution between himself and my UIHealth Transplant team to rectify my current problems/issues. In about 90 minutes he was able to explain to me various potential solutions and acknowledge that my symptoms and side effects were very real and not exaggerated….today, was a 🏆 WIN❣️

Earlier, I shared the symptoms of Kidney failure/rejection… my most prevalent sign of rejection is “swollen extremities”. My feet 👣, lower legs, and hands are holding fluid (you can feel the tightness and fluid). Some symptoms are internalized, such as: chronic fatigue, heartburn ❤️‍🔥, and headaches.

“Rejection” doesn’t end instantly, it takes time. Therefore, my prayer is for another week of “good numbers” and minimal pain. “With God, ALL things are possible” ☺️🙏🏾

‼️‼️‼️A Win Is A Win‼️‼️‼️

My creatinine is a 1.22 (0.8-1.2 is ideal) and by BUN is a 7… all of my numbers are within their “normal” ranges❣️ “to God be the GLORY” — I sought the Lord, He heard and He answered‼️‼️ I’ve literally prayed for days like this… the journey isn’t close to being over, BUT GOD gave me a glimpse of a rainbow 🌈 in the midst of this storm ☔️

5 months of “rejection” has revealed so much to me mentally, emotionally and spiritually!!! Although, I’m experiencing physical pain, stress and discomfort, I know that my healing ❤️‍🩹 starts spiritually. I’m literally here “by the grace of God” and in this season I’m learning to fully and wholly TRUST IN GOD. Kinda an oxymoron, like a beautiful nightmare.

In all that you do, ADVOCATE for yourself. It’s totally fine to trust your medical teams, however, you need to be informed about your condition, and potential treatments for said condition.

DO NOT allow your medical teams:
1. To belittle your concern for your health
2. To talk over you when explaining your experiences with YOUR conditions
3. To make you agree to things on the spot that you are uncertain about
4. To not include all your concerns in their medical notes during each appointment— read your post appointment summaries
