Hair (restoration) styles: explained

There a two techniques used for harvesting hair grafts in a hair restoration procedure:

1. FUE - follicular unit extraction
2. FUT - follicular unit transplant (the strip method)

You may have also heard other terms like DHI (direct hair implantation) but this is an implantation technique using FUE and not a harvesting technique.

FUE is the preferred method of harvesting hair grafts at Opulence Chicago primarily due to the overwhelming desire for our patients to have a faster recovery!

Individual follicles (or follicular units) are removed from optimal harvest zones at the back of the head. The goal is to ensure the graft is kept intact and the site it’s removed from is as small as possible.

Neither method is wrong, and can be equally effective. However we opt for the incision-free approach for our patients.
