SNMA-MAPS at the University of Chicago

The Student National Medical Association is the nation’s oldest and largest organization focused on the needs and concerns of premedical students of color.

The purpose of the University of Chicago Student National Medical Association – Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students chapter is to provide students-of-color with an organization that offers a variety of information necessary for the pursuit of a career in medicine. SNMA–MAPS membership is open to all who wish to make a difference in health and medical concerns of underserved populations. With this said, we seek not only to provide relevant information to pre-medical students regarding the medical school application process, but to also promote participation in community service activities in the under-served communities of Chicago, addressing issues of healthcare disparities with hopes to increase the number of successful minority applicants into the healthcare field.

The Student National Medical Association is excited to host our 2023 Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) in Hartford, Connecticut! Our conference theme this year is Brilliance Embodied: Elevating the Mission and Revitalizing our Purpose. AMEC 2023 will consist of interactive workshops and sessions that will not only prepare premed and medical students in their journey to become influential physicians of tomorrow, but will also provide the opportunity to network with students and physicians from all over the country. We will have dynamic speakers and panels that will provide valuable insight into academic success, professional development, community engagement, and research.

SNMA-MAPS will be covering your registration and hotel expenses. Our main initiative is to provide this great resource to our members. Spaces are limited.

Hello SNMA-MAPS Members,

We would like to announce that we have a mentor-mentee program in partnership with Pritzker SNMA. Pre-meds can be matched with the medical student mentors from Pritzker. This is an opportunity to get in touch with them and obtain advice about any tips and tricks they have.

This opportunity is open to all general members of SNMA-MAPS. If interested, please fill out the google form, which will close on Friday, March 10 by 11:59 p.m. (Last day of finals weeks)

After that, matches with someone who has similar interests will be made and events will be held so you can connect with your mentor!
