Did you know that 7 out of 100 (7%) veterans will face PTSD during their lifetime?
Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental health disorder that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. It’s no surprise that PTSD is common among veterans due to the extreme and often life-threatening situations they face during service. However, PTSD is not limited to veterans.
Anyone, regardless of background, can experience trauma—from accidents, natural disasters, abuse, personal loss or violence. The impact of trauma is universal, and PTSD can affect anyone who has experienced life-altering events.
It’s important to recognize the signs of PTSD and offer support, whether for a veteran or someone in your community. No one should have to face the effects of trauma alone.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out for help. Your mental health matters!
