This 75-year-old gentleman came to us after having a blepharoplasty in Egypt. He developed bilateral lower eyelid ectropion—a condition where the eyelids turn outward, causing irritation and exposure—more severely on the right side.
We performed a comprehensive lower blepharoplasty and a right-sided lateral tarsal strip to correct the position of the lid and restore natural function and appearance.
This case is a reminder of the importance of choosing a board-certified oculofacial plastic surgeon, especially when dealing with delicate procedures around the eyes. While surgery abroad may seem more affordable, complications can lead to additional procedures and long-term discomfort.
In the U.S., board-certified specialists have extensive, accredited training and follow strict safety standards—giving patients the best chance at safe, effective results.
