Help Bring Bud Home

Help Bring Bud Home Bud - yellow Labrador - Neutered -
Micro-chipped - Missing from his dog sitters yard - on 107th between Normal & Parnell Chicago IL -
Dec. 26-28th of 2022.

Bud went missing from his regular dog walker that had been watching him overnight. He was Bud’s regular dog walker for several years. And when I could not get Bud an reservation with his regular boarding facility, he'd watch him. But I mostly used his dog walking services. I was told Bud went missing from his yard which is on 107th St between Normal & Parnell - Chicago IL - along with two other dogs of his - A black male pitbull with white markings on chest & paws that went by the name of King. And a female bully breed light tan with white markings on neck, chest & paws by the name of Penny - I believe. During this time while Bud's been missing and with the help of some wonderful lost dog recovery volunteers - we’ve hung 100’s of flyers, talked to multiple people, followed up with police, gone to shelters & viewed multiple dogs in the possibility they might have been Bud. But still no Bud 😢

Bud is a purebred male Labrador retriever. He is micro-chipped & it is up to date. He was wearing a metal training collar - no tags. He is neutered. Had knee surgery on both rear legs. And also has an very identifiable feature. I’ve had him since he was a puppy. He has a loving home & he is deeply missed 💔

Please help me find him. Help Bring Bud Home

Two! Two dogs that went missing! Two Chipped Dogs. Two Owners that never gave up. Finally reunited

Thankful Thursday feels a little extra special tonight. 💙

Before you head to bed, here’s a reminder that the bond between family and their pets never truly disappears.

This week at CACC, we witnessed two reunions that felt like miracles… all thanks to microchips and families who kept their information up to date.

🐾 Chop was stolen from his yard 3 years ago. He was incredibly friendly with staff, but kept looking past us… like he was searching for something we couldn’t give him. That stopped the moment he realized his person had come for him.

🐾 Osita was gone even longer… 9 years. Her owner literally asked us to repeat ourselves because she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. And the wild part? She was found only about a mile from where she was taken. Based on what we can gather, we highly suspect she hadn’t been to a vet in all those years… her microchip was flagged as missing.

In both cases, the moment of recognition was the same: after all these years… the dogs caught their owners’ scent… their eyes did a double take… and then came the tail wags and the full body wiggles. ❤️

So tonight, we’re thankful for microchips.

We’re thankful for people who keep their chip info current.

And we’re thankful for the families who never stop hoping.

To anyone still searching for their missing pet, please don’t give up. We’ve seen so many miracles this year at CACC. We hope yours is next. 💛

We’ve tried to keep posts focused on this. We don’t know the circumstances of how Bud went missing - all we do know is that he was in the care of his regular dog walker.

He had been walking Bud regularly for years. And occasionally overnight if boarding wasn’t available.

The day after Christmas 2022 - i dropped Bud off with him. He was watching him while I was out of town for a family funeral.

When I returned he told me he didn’t know where Bud was. That Bud along with his two dogs went missing from the yard.

If you found Bud please reach out - no questions asked. I just want my dog home 🙏🏼🙏🏾🙏🏼🙏🏾🙏🏼

Thank you Lost Dogs Illinois microchip hunters for diligently looking for the rightful owners & reuniting this dog with their family ❤️

Found tied outside Animal Control!

Shiloh was found tied outside of Chicago Animal Care and Control, but he was microchipped so they submitted his information to Microchip Hunters.

The phone number linked to Shiloh's microchip was invalid. Shiloh's stray hold was also ending so it became urgent to find his owner. Microchip Hunter Pauline started looking at alternatives to contact the owner and found a match on Facebook. Luckily the owner answered quickly and confirmed it was his dog.

Shiloh was missing for a few months, the owners were looking at found posts hoping to see him. They went that day to pick him up and are very happy to have him back home where he belongs!

As special occasions draw near, the sense of missing him grows with each passing moment.

Memories of his first Halloween, particularly his response to his initial costume, which he declined to wear, are etched in my mind.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, and every day in between are bittersweet. The ache in my heart grows with each day he's absent

Today is World Mental Health Day, first initiated in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health to raise awareness and support for mental well-being across the globe 💚

💚 Today is World Mental Health Day, first initiated in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health to raise awareness and support for mental well-being across the globe.

Dr. Maya Angelou often wrote about healing and the strength we find within and alongside others. In her poem “Alone,” she reminds us:

✨ “Lying, thinking / Last night / How to find my soul a home / Where water is not thirsty / And bread loaf is not stone / I came up with one thing / And I don’t believe I’m wrong / That nobody / But nobody / Can make it out here alone.”

Her words encourage us to remember that caring for our mental health is not something we must do in isolation. Reaching out, leaning on community, and offering compassion to ourselves and others are all acts of strength.

Today, and every day, let us choose connection, kindness, and hope.
