😕 I was a parent to a child that did not sleep through the night until he was four years old. Hearing other parents say “my baby sleep so well, I can get X amount of hours at a time“ would fill me with such rage.😡
I wanted to say “f**k you, you don’t know what it’s like. I constantly feel like a fu***ng zombie who is mad at my child every time I hear him cry in the middle of the night.”
those of you that have a baby or toddler that does not sleep, you are not alone.

👩‍🍳Friday’s tend to be big cooking days for me. My clients like to be sure they have something for dinner on Friday AND lunch on Saturday!
Why the hell not!🤷🏼‍♀️
🍣Spicy Honey Salmon, roasted turmeric carrots with a pea and radish couscous on the left, 🦃ground turkey picadillo and cilantro rice on the right, and although you can’t see how baller they are-my socks🧦 were knit by the one and only Tara Tilley🙌🏼
Bon appétit👌🏼

🙏🏼At WTF Parenthood, we keep communication open with the non-birther. They have also had their lives rocked, after bringing home a baby. 💯
If they have support during this new life change, they can show up as a supportive partner/parent themselves.
Win win!🥇

❗️Sometimes tummy time/mat time play can = a pi**ed off baby👶🏾🤬

🛑BUT - We don’t always want to “save” our babies from hard moments during mat/floor play by picking them up. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Let’s start to teach THEM what they can do to help themselves feel better!🥳
As babies continue to grow and explore their bodies and the world around them, achieving ‘happy baby’ pose will happen all on their own! Connections will be made when WE as the parents/care providers are consistent with routines and VOILA—-they can attempt to calm themselves!

🌻Does your newborn even side lie bro?😎

Side lying (‼️while attended, NEVER unattended) has SO many benefits!

DIGESTION:
👶🏼Lying on the LEFT side allows your stomach to have more space, and your gastric juices don’t have a straight shot to your esophageal track. For babies who have reflux, are spitters, or have just fed, lying on their left is way more comfy!❤️

HEAD SHAPE:
👶🏽Give the back of your baby’s head a break! Lying on either the right or left side allows babies head shapes to continue growing. While many uneven or flat head shapes are temporary, you might as well switch it up from lying on their backs or being held/worn.

MOTOR DEVELOPMENT:
👶🏼While on their sides, babies can practice reaching and kicking! Placing any sort of toys/cards/books/mirrors in front of them while on their sides allows them to reach and kick towards those toys, resulting in a different sort of core and neck muscle activation!

SENSORY INPUT:
👶🏿Newborns are getting used to literally EV.ERY.THING. It’s important for their little bodies to have sensory input (the raw information your body receives from the environment through your sensory organs) on their sides in the early stages of life. Also, rolling is a skill that requires sensory input to take place on the entire circumference of the body. Give them a head start and allow them to feel side sensations right off the bat!❤️

☝🏻Let me tell you one thing:
I shucked the hell out of that corn🌽.
It was quick, and I got a little sweaty🥵 , but I did my best.
That’s not ALL I did for my postpartum client though.
I also:
-did a grocery pick up🛒
-made ☕️ and breakfast for mom, so she sat down and ate while I put groceries away
-chatted🗣️ with mom about boundaries for her upcoming visit with her MIL, & what phrases she should use to state her requests
-3 loads of laundry🧺
-pickled some veggies 🥦 and made some homemade dressings
-tidied up 🧹the living room, mom and baby’s main hang
-changed mom’s bed 🛌 sheets, and cleaned her bathroom🚽
-restocked changing table with more diapers/wipes/butt cream🧷
-did tummy time with baby👶🏼 and video taped myself (to send dad and MIL) showing ways that gravity can help baby achieve a more successful tummy time sesh
-gave mom a 🦶 massage while she breast fed
-made sure to plate a cold lunch🥪(sandwhich, pickles and apple slices) for mom so it was ready and waiting in the fridge for her when she got hungry🍽️

caters to YOU and your needs during our postpartum shifts.
And damnit, if you need something shucked, we’ll fu***ng do it.💪🏼
