I have been attending homebirths since 1990, and I am passionate about protecting the right of women to give birth with no or minimal intervention, but with the safeguard of trained and watchful attendants. Giving birth is some of the hardest yet most rewarding work a woman can do. As you prepare to add a new family member to your life, remember that giving birth is doable! Medicalizing what is primarily a family event usually causes some problems (that being said, when intervention is warranted, I’m very glad it is available.)
