Cook County Commissioner Dr. Kisha McCaskill visited La Rabida's Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) to learn more about the coordinated, trauma-informed care provided for victims of child abuse in Chicago's south suburbs.

CAC Director Rachel McGinnis and her team highlighted the center's approach to forensic interviews, advocacy, and mental health services for child victims to reduce trauma during investigations by law enforcement.

Our patients channeled their passion for fashion during our 19th Annual Dress Event. Frankie's on the Park donated dozens of dresses for our patients to pick whichever matched their personal style, and mini manicures!

Screening and prevention are the cornerstone of our holistic care approach at La Rabida’s Chicago Children’s Diabetes Center (CCDC). We are able to help families manage diabetes at the first sign.

Medical Director of the CCDC, Dr. Anita Swamy, spoke with ABC 7 Chicago about our free type 1 diabetes screening for children with Michael Mayberry, Executive Director at Breakthrough T1D Illinois. We appreciate the opportunity to talk about our deeply important partnership, as the organization supports our ability to provide this critical service.

La Rabida has three diabetes clinic locations in Chicago, Homer Glen, and St. John, Indiana.

We can’t wait to see the excitement on our patients' faces when they receive these special toys, made just for them!

Our patients who have complex or chronic conditions may have physical disabilities, which limit their ability to play with certain toys. This generous group of volunteers disassembled the toys and re-engineered them to adapt to our patients’ needs! Thanks to Comcast, Project SYNCERE, and Gwendolyn McNutt, who coordinated this special workshop to support the kids at La Rabida.

Thanks, too, to La Rabida’s Director of Special Events & Corporate Development, Anne Mullen, and Volunteer Services and Community Outreach Manager, George Hardin, who shared our mission with the group and even helped make a couple of toys.
