Plano remembers one of our lifetime supporters, Mercedes Johnson and wife of our co-founder, the late Dr. Robert Johnson, Sr. She was the recipient of Plano’s Founder’s Award in 2015 for helping children see what’s possible. This past summer we reflected on one of the first ICO Focus on Your Future underrepresented preoptometry program student visits in 2009 with Plano’s cofounder, Dr. Robert Johnson. At the recent NOA convention it was nice to connect with some of the past students who are now doctors of Optometry. We welcomed ICO’s most recent undergraduate students this past July and hope they choose optometry as their profession.
