Thanks to all who attended and or supported Plano’s 49th Annual Open House Benefit at Plano. From our State Senator Mattie Hunter and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle to honoring our Most Outstanding Vision Therapy Progress Awardee children, it was enjoyed by all. On behalf of Plano’s board of director’s we announced the plans for a reimagined rehab project at our current location. Our guest not only experienced free vision screenings but vision education on eye diseases by ICO’s NOSA students. Dr. Stephanie provided a vision and learning presentation followed by attendees trying some of the vision therapy routines. Finally our raffle was a highlight of the event. Plano not only provided vision screenings for Fellowship Chicago’s Wellness Fair but also for Trinity’s First Ladies Health Initiative at Imani Village last month. In our office we welcomed the By the Hand Englewood after school program students for vision exams. Thanks to our CCO Midwestern extern, Althea Aquino for her assistance in providing this service.

Thanks to the Perfect Vision Vision campaign for including Plano on their pioneers in vision care access banner. It was a nice surprise this week while assisting them in providing vision exams to children in Harvey Dixmoor District 147. Now our supporters and those you shared information about our great vision care service can not only donate but experience it for themselves:

Plano says goodbye to Midwestern Lauren, Ehab and UAB Suruthi externs and wishes them the best in their next step to becoming a practicing optometrist. We are grateful for their service to our patients. We look forward to our next extern in September. We continue to provide vision screenings at community health fairs. We would like to congratulate past extern Dr. Jordyn Flemons on graduating from Chicago College Of Optometry - Midwestern, we are so proud of you! We would also like to give a warm welcome to our new extern’s Ehab Turshon & Lauren Byars who both attend Chicago College of Optometry- Midwestern, and Sruthi Sethuram from the University of Alabama School of Optometry. We are so happy to have you all! They have been helping us inside and outside the development center by providing eye exams for children at By The Hands Club for Kids in Cabrini.

Plano remembers one of our lifetime supporters, Mercedes Johnson and wife of our co-founder, the late Dr. Robert Johnson, Sr. She was the recipient of Plano’s Founder’s Award in 2015 for helping children see what’s possible. She was a dedicated teacher, an inspiration and role model for mothers everywhere.
