“We want to match the same urgency that these families have in trying to get to answers.” 👏 👏

Our president, Carrie Haverty, spoke on Capitol Hill recently during a Congressional Personalized Medicine Caucus briefing. She highlighted the need for improving access to genetic counseling and testing so patients can get the right test at the right time.

Science is moving fast. Policy must keep pace by ensuring CMS recognizes genetic counselors as providers so more patients can access genetic experts.

The Access to Genetic Counselor Services Act (H.R. 6280/S. 3607) continues to gain bipartisan support. Thank you Rep. Darin LaHood and Senator Amy Klobuchar for co-sponsoring this important legislation to help ensure Medicare beneficiaries can access genetic counselors.

Genetic counselors are essential connectors to personalized care, helping patients and physicians navigate genetic and genomic care that can identify disease risk, inform prevention strategies and guide treatment options.

As genomic medicine plays an increasingly important role in patient care, Medicare beneficiaries deserve access to the specialized expertise genetic counselors provide.
