Join us at Lalo's for a delicious day out!

Get ready to have some fun—and some tacos! We're celebrating Mexican Independence Day with a trip to Lalo's, and we'd love for you to join us.

This isn't just about delicious food, though; it's a chance for our members to put their skills to the test in a real-world setting. They'll practice everything from ordering off a menu and handling money to trying new things and experiencing different cultures. It's a fun, hands-on way to learn and grow.

Here’s a little throwback to last July! We wanted to give a huge thank you to the talented Occupational Therapy students from UIC who spent time with us at the Clubhouse.

They led wonderful group sessions for our members, focusing on skills that make a real difference in daily life. Together, we worked on:

🤝 Building social skills and making new connections
🧠 Strengthening memory with fun, engaging activities
🧘‍♀️ Learning new ways to manage stress and find calm
🏡 Practicing life skills for greater independence

Every session was a chance to grow in a safe and empowering environment. We loved seeing our members gain confidence and learn new tools to thrive. Thank you to the UIC students for bringing your passion and knowledge to our community!

Yesterday, we talked about understanding our responses. Today, let's talk about the power in our choices.

This journey of "re-patterning" isn't about becoming a perfect person who never feels fear or anxiety. It's about becoming a person who knows how to hold their own hand when they do.

Every time you pause before reacting, every time you take a deep breath, every time you offer yourself a word of kindness instead of criticism—you are practicing. You are taking your power back.

This is what building a new, safer path looks like. It’s not one giant leap; it's a thousand small, courageous steps. We see you taking them, and we are in awe of your strength.
