Now is a time to keep in touch with friends and family. Using electronic communication such as phone, text, and video chat services can keep us connected. Just because you need to be physically distant doesn’t mean you can’t be emotionally close.

EAP is there for you – don’t hesitate to call for more information on staying well and services offered for yourself and your loved ones.

OFFICER WELLNESS!

It is imperative for police officers to have a safe place they can call to talk about anything occurring in their life. The Chicago Police Department Professional Counseling Division provides comprehensive, confidential, and free services to all Department members and their families. For those who may feel comfortable talking to someone outside of CPD, the EAP recommends vetted helplines that provide free, anonymous, confidential and immediate support

These resources are here to ensure you have the support you need whether you're having a bad day, have had a bad call, or feel in crisis. Our goal is to ensure every officer is aware of resources they can turn to for support.

Please remember you are never alone - make the call. COPLINE® is a confidential 24-hour hotline answered by retired law enforcement officers across the U.S. CopLine® retired officer listeners provide support with an array of stressors that impact law enforcement officers and their families that they too have lived through. If a caller needs or requests further assistance, the CopLine® listener has access to vetted, culturally competent clinical referrals to therapists and programs throughout callers’ regions. This resource can be reached at 1-800-267-5463 and CopLine.org.

Another resource is the Crisis Text Line, which serves anyone in any type of crisis, providing access to free, 24/7 support. As a text line, a response is not immediate; however, it usually takes less than five minutes to connect with a Crisis Counselor, though may take longer during high-traffic times. This resource can be reached by texting “BLUE” to 741741.

The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline provides free and confidential support to people in suicidal crisis or mental distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States. This resource can be reached by dialing 9-8-8. If you are a veteran, you can immediately dial 1 at the automated answering to be connected to the Veterans Crisis Line.

Thank you for all that you do. Each one of you is a valued member of the CPD family.

PLEASE reach out if you need someone to talk to regarding stress or suicidal thoughts.

YOU are loved.

A message from our Quilt for Cops group…

Hello Everyone!

Quilts for Cops, Chicago Branch, would like to wish you a Merry Christmas & Happy Holiday Season.
We would like to recommend a movie that is streaming on Amazon Prime or you can watch it through YouTube. A link is provided below.

The movie is called, “The Fabric of Christmas.” It’s a lovely family friendly movie about Christmas, love, a first responder and quilting. If you have time, grab some hot chocolate and gather your family. If you are a recipient of a QFC quilt, snuggle with them under your quilt and know that Quilts for Cops is pleased that one of our quilts has made it to your home and you are healing. We pray that it brings you comfort as you rest.

We wish you well this holiday season, you may not know us personally but we are now part of the fabric of your life, through your presented quilt. May our quilt bring you comfort.

Happy Holidays
Sincerely,
Quilts for Cops
Chicago Branch
