You may see some news stories this week about the decline in peanut allergy since guidelines shifted away from recommending delayed introduction. In this video Dr. Goldstein gives you something to chew on - information on introducing allergy-causing foods to babies. It’s a big topic, so ask us more about it in the office.

Also, we are having an in-office meet & greet for new (or soon-to-be) parents on Wednesday, November 12 at 6pm. You can register on our website. This is a great chance to meet some of the providers, learn about the office, and have some fire pizza no cap six seven.

Congrats to Dr. Unger, who was recognized last night by Lurie Children’s Hospital for her 35 years of service! Together , Drs. Unger and Ramsey have 35 years and 1 week on the Lurie staff! Also at last nights meeting, someone asked Dr. Sharma where the restroom was, so she’s feeling pretty good too.

Walk-in for a flu shot from 9-12 on Saturday if you haven’t done so already! We guarantee it’ll be the most fun you ever had !

Happy first day to our newest provider , Dr. Morgan Ramsey! As is our custom since we heard of it a couple weeks ago, we did a Spirit Tunnel for her!

Also, we now have Covid vaccine available for everyone over age 6 months , as well as RSV shots for babies up to 8 months. You can call to schedule. We are also having flu shots walk-in for patients of the practice from 9am-noon this Saturday 10.4 (and every Saturday in October).

Our vaccine supply changes frequently, so check the website before you come in.

Dr. Calway thought he was on vacation but we reminded him that content generation is more important than family time, so he made this video (from his apparently baseball-influenced childhood home) about how to get flu, Covid, and RSV shots in the office.

The key point here is to check our website - www.nwcppediatrics.com - to see what is available before you come in. Supply will change frequently, especially with COVID vaccines since we order small amounts at a time. If you are a patient patient there will be plenty of vaccines for everyone.

And don’t forget that patients of the practice can come in for a flu vaccine without an appointment from 9am-12pm on any Saturday in October.

Look where these three met again … on Chicago Magazine’s Top Doctors List! Congrats to Drs. Unger, Hirsh, and Li (shown here in rehearsal for the NWCP production of Macbeth) for receiving this honor once again. Although we are deeply disappointed in the other providers, as patients you should be reassured by the fact that everyone else is technically qualified to provide care in Illinois.

We’ve been getting lots of questions about Covid, flu, and RSV shots, and will post a video here in the next few days outlining what to know and how to get them in the office.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Morgan Ramsey to NWCP! Dr. Ramsey was born and raised in western Illinois, attended UIUC, and completed medical school and residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago - a University of Illinois lifer!

Dr. Ramsey is a self-described city girl with rural roots. She spends most of her free time doing any number of things outside, and strongly believes that the outdoors are better than the indoors. She is big into DIY, and considers her YakRack (picture in post) and new flooring some of her finest work.

Whether she can sing or act remains to be seen, but we will find out pretty quickly. We aren’t sure where she will sit in the office yet, but anticipate that Dr. Blegen will have to move some of his stuff, because he has more space than anyone else for some reason, and it isn’t fair.

A couple quick mid-week announcements:

1. We are doing a US Open-themed Q&A this Friday in our stories , so follow along to send your questions in.

2. In addition to flu shots , we have a limited number of Flumist (nasal spray) for kids over 2, and a limited number of the new formulation of Covid vaccine for patients age 12 and up. Call to schedule if interested.

3. We are having an in-office meet & greet for new parents on Wednesday, September 17 at 6pm. Last time we ordered , who knows what we’ll do this time? Register on our website.

We know it’s been a while since we’ve posted - August is always a super busy month, both in the office and in trying to squeeze every last drop of family time in before everyone goes back to school, work, etc.

We will have some exciting announcements here soon about flu shots, a new doctor, and (of course) our thoughts on the new album !

Also, we are having an in-office meet & greet for new parents on Wednesday, September 17 at 6pm. We’ve been told that our pizza ordering game is “fire”, so tell your friends to register on our website!

Today we bid a sad goodbye to two of our Nurse Practitioners.

Lanny has been with NWCP for over 20 years, and is retiring because of what you guys did to her. Cara is moving to Wisconsin to be closer to Culvers (and family, or so she says).

As soon as this message is posted they will be removed from our text group and every trace of them will be scrubbed from the office, but we will undoubtedly miss them terribly. They are truly irreplaceable, although technically they have already been replaced (more on that later). We hope you join us in wishing them them a bright future filled with happiness and laughter!
