Today we bid a sad goodbye to two of our Nurse Practitioners.

Lanny has been with NWCP for over 20 years, and is retiring because of what you guys did to her. Cara is moving to Wisconsin to be closer to Culvers (and family, or so she says).

As soon as this message is posted they will be removed from our text group and every trace of them will be scrubbed from the office, but we will undoubtedly miss them terribly. They are truly irreplaceable, although technically they have already been replaced (more on that later). We hope you join us in wishing them them a bright future filled with happiness and laughter!

It’s a big bday for Dr. Blegen today ! And as we all know he craves attention, so if you see him wish him a happy one ! Some fun facts about our second youngest doctor :

- His cousin once did something crazy

Happy start of summer! The office is closed on Memorial Day, but we are open for walk-in at 10am on Saturday and Sunday.

After this weekend, the office will be closed on Sundays. We are offering more scheduled visits on Saturdays though. We will still have walk-in at 10am on Saturdays, and then scheduled well, sick, and follow-up visits until 3pm. You can call to schedule , or schedule on MyChart. Now is a great time to schedule summer checkups if you want to come in on a Saturday!

Did you know that you can also schedule sick visits on MyChart during the week? Even same-day sick appointments? Well you can ! When you are in MyChart scroll past the Lurie options and use the “sick/sick follow up” button.

Mother’s Day Work Crew! You’d have thought that Dr. King, Calway, Goldstein or Blegen would have offered to fill in, but you’d be wrong.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, mommies, mamas, mamans, mamminas, mutters, emas, mors, mutsis, mães, maans, okāsans, and any/everyone else! Hope you’re all having a wonderful day!

Here’s to a (finally) nice Chicago weather weekend - we hope you all enjoy it! But we hope our nurses have an even better weekend than you, because it’s Nurses Week, and ours are the best! Seriously, before they start they have to pass a series of mental and physical challenges that would make Jeff Probst weep.
Very few make the cut.

Wishing the best Work Anniversary to the best Nurse Manager! Today is Angie’s 25th year with NWCP. A lover of Neil Diamond, The Cubs (especially Aramis Ramirez), and Butterfly Sushi; a hater of loose papers, running injuries, and jokes about being legit of age to be a grandmother- Angie is a superb teacher and leader of nurses, advisor to parents, and advocate for patients . Many days she is the only thing that keeps our marginally functional office functioning.

Despite a traffic jam for the ages, Drs. Blegen and Goldstein had a great time at Lincoln Elementary tonight , where they gave a talk about puberty.

If non-puberty talks are more your speed, we are having an in-office prenatal meet & greet for expecting parents on Wednesday, May 14 at 6pm. If you, a friend, or even a casual acquaintance are going to become a parent , come chat with us and learn all about the first year! Register on our website . It’s free, so the only thing you have to lose is precious time, but the knowledge you will gain will make it worth it!

Spring is in the air! You may have already read about this in the New York Times, but we were awarded an Excellence in Teaching Award from Lurie & Northwestern! Dr. Unger, shown here with her best / only friend Sal got an award all for herself !

We don’t just teach because we like showing a new generation of doctors how it’s done. We don’t just do it because it keeps us clinically sharp. We do it because we desperately need new people to talk to.

On another note , did you know you can now schedule same day sick visits on MyChart? Well on many days you can.
