Welcome back everyone! Looks like 2026 is picking up where 2025 left off - with a seemingly arbitrary and confusing recommendation from the CDC about the vaccine schedule.

Dr. Goldstein discussed it on the news tonight, but if you’re one of the millions of people who didn’t catch that, the bottom line is that we don’t foresee any changes in Illinois anytime soon. Other than stoking confusion and frustration, the CDC’s latest update is unlikely to do much.

On another note, we have 2 upcoming talks. Wednesday January 21 at 6pm is our meet & greet for new parents, and on Wednesday February 25 at 6pm we will have a talk about sleep during the first year. If your child isn’t a great sleeper after that free talk, we will give you your money back. Registration for both will be up on our website this week (www.nwcppediatrics.com).

Happy Holiday Weeks! The office will close at noon on 12.24 and 12.31 - there is NO AFTERNOON WALK-IN ON 12.24 and 12.31. We are also closed on 12.25 and 1.1.

We wish all of you a wonderful holiday season and a healthy 2026! We are eternally grateful for the trust you put in our family to care for your families.

We have alot of exciting things in store for 2026. Maybe some new faces and spaces, a series of special events, and hopefully new ways of making fun of Dr. King.

We do have a meet & greet on Wednesday January 21 at 6pm. A great last minute gift for friends would be to tell them to register for it on our website (www.nwcppediatrics.com)!

NWCP spending our snow day tearing through social media trends, getting ready for what the CDC is gonna throw at us this week!

For those wondering , there are no changes to the vaccine schedule at this time, and we will continue to follow the schedule recommended by the AAP and Illinois Department of Public Health. We do not anticipate any issues with vaccine availability or insurance coverage, but will update you if there are any.

Some info/thoughts on the ACIP meeting. TL;DR, on our “Sky is Falling Scale” it’s a mixed bag - while it is unlikely that there will be any changes in Illinois in vaccine recommendations or school requirements, the damage being done to the confidence in a massive public health success story, and the confusion being sowed for both parents and providers, make this a pretty big sky is falling moment in pediatrics.

The office will be closed on Thursday. Whether you are working out with your son and 97 10/12 year old mother-in-law like Dr. Unger, fixing stuff like Dr. Calway, or painting yourself blue and orange in preparation for Fridays game like Dr. King, we wish you a peaceful holiday filled with friends and family! We are thankful for all of you!

Drs. Li and Ramsey have an important announcement! Our next in-office prenatal is Wednesday, November 12 at 6pm (register at www.nwcppediatrics.com), and we are giving away some stuff! And also there will be pizza!

And for those of you who are curious from the video, Dr. Ramsey pronounced it “Bjorn”, when we all know that the correct pronunciation is “Bjorn”.

Happy Halloween everyone! We asked people in our office about their favorite candy and costumes. Although their answers were boring and predictable, we thought we’d share them with you anyway. And if the picture of Dr. Bensko as a child troll doesn’t give you the creeps, we aren’t sure what will.

You may see some news stories this week about the decline in peanut allergy since guidelines shifted away from recommending delayed introduction. In this video Dr. Goldstein gives you something to chew on - information on introducing allergy-causing foods to babies. It’s a big topic, so ask us more about it in the office.

Also, we are having an in-office meet & greet for new (or soon-to-be) parents on Wednesday, November 12 at 6pm. You can register on our website. This is a great chance to meet some of the providers, learn about the office, and have some fire pizza no cap six seven.

Congrats to Dr. Unger, who was recognized last night by Lurie Children’s Hospital for her 35 years of service! Together , Drs. Unger and Ramsey have 35 years and 1 week on the Lurie staff! Also at last nights meeting, someone asked Dr. Sharma where the restroom was, so she’s feeling pretty good too.

Walk-in for a flu shot from 9-12 on Saturday if you haven’t done so already! We guarantee it’ll be the most fun you ever had !
