Join Whitney Pasch this Wednesday evening for the next workshop in our Going Deeper program, Intro to Ayurveda!

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian science that is often practiced in tandem with yoga. The word Ayurveda means the study of life, and it offers holistic lifestyle practices based on the concept that every person has a unique blueprint made up of the five elements: fire, water, earth, air, and ether. In this workshop, you'll learn about the five elements as they pertain to ayurveda, the doshas, dinacharya, and more through lecture, reflection and discussion, and practice.

The workshops in our Going Deeper program are designed for current yoga teachers and/or students of yoga who want to continue to study the ancient roots, philosophy and psychology of yoga from a trauma-informed lens. You'll learn alongside our current YTT cohort in this special workshop.

This workshop will not be recorded to protect the integrity of our training so live (online) attendance is requested!

Emma's new blog unpacks weight stigma, body neutrality, and the Health At Every Size (HAES) framework. If you've been feeling pulled in by the wellness industrial complex, this blog is a gentle reminder that health is a much larger and subjective story than what your phone is trying to sell you.

As Emma writes, "By challenging these narratives, we can reframe health as a presence in one's body and attending to our bodies' needs, rather than controlling outcomes. We can move from punishment to trust."

Special meditation practice this Thursday with Sara! 🤍

This month we are participating in the Respiratory Health Association's Breathe Easy Campaign as they acknowledge lung health and developments - a topic near to Sara's heart as her mom recently fought lung cancer and is now in full remission!

As part of the campaign, over very own Sara will be leading a seated meditation practice on October 23rd at 7 am. Practice is just $5; all funds raised from class will go directly to the campaign.

When someone we love dies, it is common to feel like a part of us dies alongside them. The pain of grief is often minimized, especially in Westernized cultures, and many of us are left feeling lost, isolated, and activated in the aftermath of losing someone we love.

In this intimate, supportive 2-hour workshop, you are invited to join Margy, one of our grief-focused therapists at Room to Breathe, to:
1) normalize, validate, and deepen your understanding of grief emotions and death-loss experiences,
2) learn best practices about tending to and honoring your grief and ways to care for self,
3) engage in somatic and mindfulness practice to connect with and move your emotions, and
4) be in community with others who are also mourning the death of a loved one.

If you’ve been here for a while, you know that is a "Wintering" fanatic and has been leading Yoga and Journaling on this theme for a minute. This year, we are turning towards the early chapters of Katherine May’s book to “make ready” for metaphorical and seasonal winter.

For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the approaching winter might feel like the lurking “Jaws” theme track – ominous, dark, and isolating. Chicagoans know all too well the frantic energy with which we pack in the summer weekends and evenings as if we are trying to store up for the impending cold and shortened days. But what if we accepted winter, both the season and the emotional periods of life where we might retreat from the world, do less, allow ourselves to rest. What if this season has something to offer us, a permission that we don’t often take?

Katherine May writes, “We may never choose to winter, but we can choose how.” Come explore what that might look like for you as we practice gentle movement and quiet reflection together on October 19th.

💙 EMMA 💙 is now accepting new clients!

Emma, LSW, MSW, MPH is dedicated to creating a therapy space where one can "exhale" and truly feel seen and heard. She believes in a collaborative relationship, where clients feel empowered and safe to navigate the complexities of their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Her goal is to help the people she works with cultivate resilience, embrace self-compassion, and live a more fulfilling life on their terms. A session with Emma will be customized to fit your needs; she enjoys using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and also integrates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques.

The Yoga Sutras are ancient scriptures written by Maharishi Patanjali, and they describe detailed instructions for transcending suffering and living in freedom and harmony. In this workshop with Whitney Pasch, we will discuss interpretations of the Sutras and how to study them for practical usage.

This workshop is presented as part of our Going Deeper program, designed for current yoga teachers and/or students of yoga who want to continue to study the ancient roots, philosophy and psychology of yoga from a trauma-informed lens. We're "fall-ing" into a new season with the return of Yoga + Journaling!

As the busy summer months come to a close, life just keeps on life-ing. Let’s take time to digest some of what we've been chewing on, and then rest for a while.

This 75-minute session with Molly Page will combine gentle yoga postures to help promote physical digestion, and thoughtful journal prompts to aid in mental digestion. We’ll end our session with an extended shavasana and guided meditation.

Join us as we slow down and set the stage for cozy season.
