To celebrate Women's History Month, we are recognizing Shannon Boff today. In the spring of 1985, Shannon became the first ever gestational surrogate in the US; or as she calls it "the world's first fetal baby-sitter." Shannon was compensated for her efforts, but like many other women today, she had a passion for family building. This match sparked research, legislation, and a blossoming industry that are now responsible for approximately 1,000 babies being born each year.

Our Story

Since 1992, Alternative Reproductive Resources was one of the first agencies in the country to bring together intended parents with egg donors and gestational surrogates. We are very hands-on and collaborative, and often go beyond the industry's ethical standards. Our shared goal -- the creation of families -- can only be achieved when all parties are informed and know what to expect.
