We recently had the pleasure of visiting Dr. Jonathan Solomon and the team at Solomon Eye - Physicians & Surgeons to learn more about their experience with KeraNatural® and how it’s being used in practice.

These conversations help bridge the gap between innovation and real-world application, so we can better support surgeons and the global effort to restore sight.

Grateful for the opportunity to spend time with leaders like Dr. Solomon, who are advancing patient care every day. Stay tuned for our upcoming interview with Dr. Solomon.

This month, we'd like to put the spotlight on The Eye Bank of Kentucky (EBKY), one of our member eye banks and the meaningful work they have ahead this year.

In 2026, EBKY will be moving into a new dedicated space, an exciting milestone that will allow them to expand their impact and better serve their community. As part of this transition, they are also introducing a Legacy Tree Art Installation in Louisville, a special space to honor cornea donors and recognize the families who supported their gift of sight.

Congratulations to the EBKY team on this exciting milestone. We’re proud to support the incredible work they’re doing.

More than 12 million people worldwide are blind due to corneal disease.

Corneal transplantation can restore sight for many of these patients, yet access to donor tissue remains limited in many parts of the world.

Through collaboration with eye banks and surgeons, Vision Share works to expand access to sight-restoring corneal tissue, so more patients can receive the care they need. When partnerships work together, more lives can be changed.

Strong partnerships help ensure every donor gift reaches the patients who need it most. We’re grateful for the eye banks across the Vision Share network who make this work possible.

As Chris Hanna, Executive Director of Utah Eye Bank and one of our member eye bank leaders, recently shared:
⬇️

“Since 2004, Vision Share has provided nothing less than exceptional service to my organization. Placement opportunities extend far beyond my eye bank’s local service area, ensuring every gift reaches patients who need it most, whether domestically or abroad. Their customer-focused infrastructure, paired with truly personalized attention to need, creates a seamless and reliable experience for both partners and clinicians.

Through this collaboration, we’re able to honor donor families with the highest level of stewardship and respect. I’m proud to support Vision Share and the meaningful impact they make every day.”

Partnerships like these help ensure that donor gifts are stewarded with care and reach the ophthalmologists and researchers working to restore sight around the world.

Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin has long demonstrated a deep commitment to honoring the gift of sight, not only through responsible tissue stewardship, but through thoughtful engagement with donor families.

Vision Share is honored to partner with Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin in a new initiative focused on collecting and sharing stories from international recipients whose vision has been restored through donor tissue placed abroad, as well as donor stories shared by their loved ones.

For donor families, seeing the global reach of their loved one’s gift can be profoundly meaningful. This collaborative project also seeks to deepen public understanding of how the Gift of Sight reshapes lives as an extraordinary act of generosity and public good.

Together, our partnership reflects a shared commitment not only to expanding placement opportunities worldwide, but also to honoring each donor’s legacy with care and transparency.

We believe stewardship extends beyond placement. It includes ensuring that the impact of donation is understood across borders and communities.

We are grateful for Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin’s collaboration in this important work and look forward to sharing more stories of restored sight in the months ahead.

This month, we’re putting the spotlight on Eversight for their recent contribution to a landmark NIH-funded corneal transplantation study published in JAMA Ophthalmology.

The study demonstrated that corneas from donors with diabetes achieve transplant outcomes comparable to non-diabetic donors, a finding that could expand the available donor pool and increase access to sight-restoring surgery worldwide.

Eversight’s involvement reflects the vital role eye banks play not only in tissue recovery and distribution, but in advancing the research that informs future standards of care. We’re proud to recognize Eversight as a Vision Share member helping move the field forward through evidence-based innovation.
