Dr. Drew was a pioneering physician and medical researcher who developed innovative methods for storing and preserving blood plasma during World War II. Dr. Irby Jones was the first Black student admitted to a formerly all-white medical school in the South and later became the first Black woman to desegregate hospital facilities in Alabama.
