It allows one to enter into the transcendental states through singing, repetitively chanting a sacred phrase and experiencing what is moving through. It has been one of the most powerful and profound transformative meditations i’ve encountered. Each Mantra that is sung, spoken or hummed has the power of awakening different parts of our consciousness. Mantra is a sacred medicine that is not only g
ood for oneself, it is beneficial to the whole collective consciousness. When I enter into the space of singing, there is a deep allowance of surrender that happens which allows for the Divine channel to take over and sing through me. One of my teacher’s says “Let the song sing through you” as though you are a empty piece of bamboo and you are the instrument of the Divine. I like to call my gatherings “Sat Sing” which is translated to: “Truth Sing.” Where truth comes through and shared through the channel of Divine presence. I like transformation. Dancing, moving, shaking is all part of this sacred medicine. When singing these sacred chants, it is as though we are taking in etheric capsules of love. There are different ways to help disperse these medicines in the body, one way is dance, another is breath. One piece I have discovered throughout the past 6 years of studying and learning mantra is to be authentic and real. I used to think I needed to be a certain way and reflect specific image to my community. I had to act a certain way, eat the “right” foods, say the right things until I realized I was just living another lie. When these discoveries happened, Mantra became me. I no longer “try” to sing for you, I sing for the Divine and it just so happens people enjoy singing with me and this is fun. So, let’s sing together and enjoy this process of transformation. Why not? It can be fun!
