The were honored and excited to join 3rd Ward Alderman Pat Dowell’s annual Senior Update Day. Over 50 sorors joined the nearly 500 seniors in attendance. The storms did not deter us all from having a fantastic time!

Saturday September 13 was an amazing day. There was line dancing with Inferno Dance Studio, bingo games with prizes and Mayor Johnson calling the numbers for the last game, and of course lots of good food and conversation in between. The day was capped by the announcement of upcoming construction of a new senior center at 47th and Calumet!

Joy was indeed the word of the day as sorors escorted and assisted attendees, served food, and danced right alongside our seniors.

Congratulations to Rev. R. Janae Pitts-Murdock on her appointment as National Chaplain of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated!

Initiated in Spring 2007 at Detroit Alumnae Chapter, Soror Pitts-Murdock has inspired and uplifted many through her pastoral leadership in Memphis, TN; Rogers, AR; and now as Senior Pastor of Light of the World Christian Church in Indianapolis, IN.

She has served across three regions—the Dynamic Southern Region (Memphis Alumnae Chapter), the Blazing Southwest Region (Northwest Arkansas Area Alumnae Chapter), and the Mighty Midwest Region, where she currently serves in the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter. Her ministry has touched lives across the nation and around the world.

Appointed in 2022, Soror Pitts-Murdock has faithfully served the Midwest as Regional Chaplain, providing thoughtful leadership and encouragement to sorors throughout the region. We will miss her powerful meditations and presence in regional meetings, but we are confident she will carry the mantle of National Chaplain with the same Saving Grace that has inspired and uplifted us all.
