Reishi and getting sick a lot: what it might help, and what to do first

If you feel like you’re always catching something—colds, sore throats, “I’m run down again”—it’s tempting to search for one magic fix. Reishi gets suggested a lot because it’s traditionally used around immune support and stress.

Two things can be true at once:

1. Reishi may support immune function for some people.

2. If your foundations are shaky, no supplement will “outperform” basics.

Before you spend money, run a quick checklist:

• Are you consistently sleeping 7+ hours?
• Are you under-eating protein / calories?
• Are you training hard with no deload weeks?
• Are you low on vitamin D or iron? (Worth checking with a clinician.)

If you do trial reishi, treat it like a structured experiment:

• Start low for a week.

• Take it at the same time each day (many people prefer evenings).

• Watch for digestion changes, vivid dreams, or feeling overly sedated. 🌙

Quality matters more than buzzwords. Reishi is tough and woody; extracts are common because the compounds people care about aren’t always easy to access from plain powder.

Reishi isn’t a substitute for medical care if infections are frequent or severe, but it can be a reasonable “support tool” when everything else is already dialed in.
