If you’ve never done creative arts therapy before, you might be wondering:

Do I have to dance?
Will someone interpret my drawings?
What if I’m not creative?

You don’t have to show up with a plan or know exactly what to say.
Your first session is about arriving as you are.
No pressure to be polished, articulate, or even ready.

Just be willing.

Sometimes you may come in ready and eager to share, and other times not.

If it feels right, we’ll gently explore.

Sometimes that looks like painting with your hands, not brushes.

Sometimes it’s stretching your arms and letting movement meet your breath.

Sometimes it’s music.
Sometimes silence.

There’s a kind of exhaustion that doesn’t show up on your calendar.

It hides in the way you brace yourself for the day, shoulders quietly inching toward your ears.

Grief isn’t always obvious.

It doesn't always show up as crying or deep sadness. Sometimes, it arrives as forgetfulness. Or irritability. Or that feeling of heaviness that lingers, even when things seem “fine.”

Grief can come from a death. But it can also come from a change you didn’t choose. A relationship that ended before you were ready. A version of yourself you’re letting go of.

At InTouch & Motion, we honor grief in all its forms. With space. With movement. With silence. With art.

Sometimes, painting through the ache feels more honest than speaking it. Sometimes your body knows what you’re grieving before your mind catches up.

It’s one thing to say, “You’re welcome here.”

It’s another to sit with someone who doesn’t flinch at your grief, who doesn’t question your choices through a lens that was never built for you.

If you’ve ever walked into a room and felt the need to explain who you are before you could be helped, you know how exhausting that is.

Culturally responsive care is slowing down enough to listen for what’s not being said. It’s knowing that your body, your silence, your art, your laughter.
