Don't forget to brush and floss well after eating your Halloween candy!

Choose wisely-sticky and gummy candy are especially bad since they stick to the grooves and crevices in our teeth and are harder to remove!

Low risk: sugar intake during mealtime only, no cavities or restorations in the last 36 months, adequate saliva flow

Moderate risk: 1 new cavity or restoration in the past 36 months, visible plaque buildup, exposed root surfaces, defective restorations, braces

High risk: 1 cavity or restoration in the last 6 months, chemo/radiation therapy, missing teeth due to cavities in the last 36 months, dry mouth due to medication, medical treatment, or chemo/radiation, frequent/prolonged sugar intake daily

Dental PSA:

Crest/Oral B has changed the formula of their popular glide floss to eliminate the microplastics in it.

Beware, this new formula is not loved by the dental hygiene community! It breaks easily and curls making it extremely difficult to use with a floss threader.

Before buying a megapack at Costco or Sam's, it would be best to try a single floss to see how well it works for you.

Which food or drink pH level surprises you the most? I was surprised to see that tangerines, oranges, and herbal/green tea are less acidic than brown rice, nuts, and most meats!
