While here for your child's school physical, be sure to ask your doctor about the HPV vaccination. HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection with 1 in 4 people walking around with the virus at any given time. The vaccine is available for both men and women between the ages of 11-26. It is very important that parents bring their children in to receive the vaccine long before they become exposed to the virus.

If your child is between the ages of 11-14, they will only need two doses of the vaccine. Those ages 15-26 will need three doses of the vaccine for full protection.

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection. The CDC suggests that 1 in 4 people are walking around with an HPV infection. Unfortunately, once becoming infected HPV can lead to various forms of cancer.

Although you or your child can receive the vaccine up until they are 26 years of age, it is highly recommended that those aged 11 and 12 years of age become immunized with the HPV vaccine. It is important that they receive the vaccination long before becoming exposed to the virus for their best protection.

The CDC says that 80% of people will get the HPV infection at one point in the lifetime and 1 in 4 people are currently walking around with an HPV infection (CDC, 2018).

It is very important to have your child receive the vaccination before becoming exposed to the virus, to ensure the greatest immunity. We, and the CDC, recommend that children 11-12 years old receive the vaccine, however it is still available until the age of 26. If your child becomes vaccinated with the first dose before the age of 15, they one will need a total of two doses of Gardasil. If your child is over the age of 15, he or she will need a total of three doses of the vaccine to make sure they have full protection.

Bring your child in today to receive their HPV vaccination, no appointment needed. It is recommended that children ages 11-12 receive the vaccine long before they become exposed to the virus. It is recommended that children ages 11 and 12 begin the Gardasil series to protect them from HPV. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted infection that can lead to various forms of cancer. The most common is cervical cancer in women, but can also affect men. It is recommended that girls and boys 11 and 12 years of age receive the vaccine long before they become exposed to the virus.

The CDC says that in the last decade, HPV types that cause cancer and warts in women have dropped 71%, and that number is expected to rise.
