Thereβs always that one dish that brings the holidays to life β and for AHCC Advisory Board Vice Chair Apryl Swafford, itβs something sweet, simple, and green π.
Here's the story behind her family's beloved "Green Stuff," a Thanksgiving tradition thatβs been passed from homeschool project to holiday table for decades.
"In my college speech class, we had to do a demonstration. Someone in the class made this recipe and it was the best thing ever, at least at the time.
When I started homeschooling my younger two kiddos, they always had to make a dish for Thanksgiving and Christmas as part of their 'school' assignment. I taught both of them to make it but my son was a huge fan and to this day, will make it for our celebrations (he's 32 now). I'm sure there is an official name for it but we always call it 'The Green Stuff.'"
Ingredients:
1 large container of Cool Whip
1 large package of lime Jello
1 large can crushed pineapple, drained,
1/2 - 1 cup (or as many as your heart desires) Chopped pecans
Instructions: Mix all ingredients and place in refrigerator until ready to eat. It's best if made the day before to allow the Jello to soften completely.
