Jesse Brown VAMC has partnered with the 12th District Chicago Police Department for a professional clothing drive. We are collecting new or gently used professional attire and shoes to help empower survivors of domestic violence as they prepare for job interviews and new career opportunities. Donations will be accepted in the police station through Wednesday, Oct. 29. Your support in contributing to this meaningful initiative is greatly appreciated.

October is Polish American Heritage Month, which honors the history, culture, and contributions of Polish Americans to the United States. Chicago has the largest Polish population in the United States outside of Poland.
Edward Derwinski, a Chicago native, was the first secretary of Veterans Affairs. He was nominated by the late President George H.W. Bush after Veterans Affairs was elevated to a cabinet-level status in 1988. The law took effect March 15, 1989.
