Grief looks different for everyone and it definitely doesn't look like what we see on TV. Comparing grief is a waste of time and energy that could be better spent on taking care of yourself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It can be challenging dealing with unsolicited advice about your mental health. While it can be well-meant, it usually misses the mark and can be hurtful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It is ok to set boundaries! There are so many options when it comes to boundary setting, Say thank you and change the topic. Tell the person you appreciate their concern, but you are not interested in talking about this. You can even come up with a script of your own. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Therapy : if you are feeling anxious or activated, exhanling for longer than you inhale will help you feel more calm. It is a hack that says to the brain, "Listen, if we can breathe like this we aren't in serious danger and can shut down the fight or flight response." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The first two days of social isolation didn't go as I expected. When I finished meeting with clients and other tasks, I found myself staring at the wall and not doing much of anything.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My thoughts were not kind. "What are you doing? How could you waste this time? You are so lazy. Think of all the projects that you could do. You aren't being productive. How often have you said you would do more things if you just had the time?"⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Those unkind thoughts about myself didn't feel good and weren't helpful. They also weren't fair or realistic! The reality of the situation was that we were all in the midst of a stressful, unknown situation. We've all had several days were it was necessary to make quick decisions that were sometimes hard, even though we knew they were right and would save lives. It would stand to reason that our brains would need a second to process what was happening and adjust. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember, it is so important that we think kind thoughts about ourselves. We are going to spending more time with ourselves so it is crucial to our mental health and well-being to be fair and compassionate to ourselves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You are not a failure if you're struggling to do the day-to-day stuff. You are not a f**k up if you can't launch right into something productive. Fear, uncertainty & anxiety are exhausting - it's okay if your energy feels all used up right now. And if you're struggling with the day-to-day but can't afford to give yourself time to process because you have to prioritise paying rent, caring for someone else, staying afloat: it's okay to feel like things are s**t right now and no IG post takes that away. Wherever you're at: I see you, however you're getting through the days is a-okay 💜💙💚🌈🌞 • [A tweet that reads "okay what we're NOT going to do is compare ourselves to all the people saying they've already started projects or side hustles or learned 57 new languages. Nope, we're gonna let ourselves feel how we're feeling and take all the motherf**king time we need.]

Feeling more irritated and annoyed with the people you live with while you are quarantined or practicing social isolation? You're not alone! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Being with the same people 24/7 for an extended period of time if difficult, even with the people you love the most. Use this as an opportunity to practice self-compassion and not judge your feelings or your need for extra space and boundaries at this time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
