Liver For Jen

Liver For Jen Hi there! My name is Jennifer and I am a 41 year old mother, wife, and nurse. In this past year I found out that I need a liver transplant.

My liver is full of adenomas, nothing like my doctors have ever seen. My team decided that a transplant was needed.

Jen is getting a liver today! Yesterday we got a call that Northwestern had a liver for her from a deceased donor. Long story short, she is going into surgery in a couple of hours!

We say a thank you to her donor and their family

* I absolutely hate to ask. My team is worried about rupture. My liver may never rupture but if it does they are not sure what my outlook is. Due to the number of adeomas there is not enough tissue inbetween the adeomas to fix the rupture. Or would they be able to find the bleeding one.

Hello! My name is Jennifer, and I am 41 years old. I am married to my husband Shane, and we have a 4-year-old son, Daxton. I also have a son Landen (20) and daughter Sydney (18). I am a registered nurse and absolutely love my career. Our little Daxton has cerebral palsy and autism. Watching him succeed fills my heart with so much joy. I am a crime show ju**ie that loves frosted sugar cookies 😊.
In January of 2023 my lab work was abnormal. The doctor called and said “well, let's do an ultrasound of your gallbladder, see if you have gallstones.” My ultrasound showed my gallbladder was perfectly normal. However, my liver was a different story. I was sent to Northwestern the following week and after a MRI, I was told the good news that it wasn’t cancer!!! I had what they felt was adenomas. My next steps were blood work, liver biopsy, colonoscopy, EGD and met with the surgeon. The hope was to resect part of my liver. My right lobe had larger adenomas that could rupture. I met with a wonderful surgeon; he explained that I was not eligible for a resection. My liver did in-fact have large lesions on the right lobe BUT my liver also had numerous adenomas EVERYWHERE. The surgeon showed me my MRI images and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. All the doctors say they have never seen anything to the extent of my adenomas. My team decided that a liver transplant was needed.
