💡New Research Spotlight from the AACVPR Registry

A new Journal of the American Heart Association study led by Thapa et al examined the impact of copays on participation in cardiac rehabilitation, using nationwide data from the AACVPR Registry.

🔍 Key findings from nearly 60,000 patients:
- Copays were common and varied widely by state and insurance type
- Having a copay was associated with ~5 fewer CR sessions attended on average
- Every $10 increase in copay was linked to additional drops in attendance
- Copays were one of the most frequently cited reasons for early CR dropout

Cardiac rehabilitation saves lives, but cost-sharing remains a meaningful barrier for many patients. These findings highlight an important opportunity for policy change and payer innovation to improve access, adherence, and outcomes.
