Update: We are 10days away and space is limited! Register today!

In celebration of National Black Maternal Health Week and this year’s powerful theme, “Rooted in Justice & Joy,” the Chicago Westside Branch Naacp Health Committee warmly invites Black mothers at every stage of motherhood to gather for an evening of rest, restoration, and collective healing.

Motherhood is sacred—and it can also be heavy. This healing circle creates space to gently address childbirth trauma, postpartum mental health, motherhood supports, and more, all within a nurturing community that understands. Come as you are to rest, connect, be held, and leave renewed.

✨ Sacred Rest: A Healing Circle for Black Mothers ✨
📅 April 16, 2026
🕕 6:00 PM
📍 Columbus Park Refectory - 5701 W. Jackson Blvd. Chicago, IL

This intimate gathering will be co-facilitated by two dynamic clinicians from Meek Wellness and the Cent(HER)ed Collective. Together, they will guide participants through moments of reflection and connection, traditional healing practices, and meaningful dialogue—while also creating opportunities to build community, strengthen support systems, and advocate for change in the maternal and child health landscape.

While some discussions may center postpartum experiences, ALL mothers are welcome and encouraged to attend.

🍽️ Dinner will be served, and space is limited—registration is required.

Please register by April 10th at:

🧸 Childcare Support:
We are actively working to accommodate mothers who need childcare in order to attend. Please follow the instructions on the Eventbrite page to indicate your childcare needs. You can email me directly with questions.

We look forward to sharing this sacred space with you!

📣 Update from the NAACP Chicago Westside Branch

Due to the recent vote to permanently install Dr. Macqueline King as Chicago Public Schools CEO with a three year contract, tomorrow’s community meeting is canceled.

We are extremely pleased with this decision and we wish Dr. King success as she steps fully into this leadership role. Our students and families deserve steady, accountable leadership, and we look forward to staying engaged to ensure this next chapter delivers real results across our communities.

Thank you to everyone who planned to attend, shared concerns, and remained committed to making sure our voices were heard. Please stay tuned for upcoming updates and opportunities to stay involved.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the NAACP CWB Women's History Month Wealth Fireside Chat. It was an insightful, timely, and engaging conversation that created real space for learning, reflection, and connection.

We are deeply grateful to our outstanding panelists. Tonisha Hood brought valuable perspective on marketing, audience connection, and what it takes to build sustainable growth. Noelle Curtis offered important insight on entrepreneurship, fintech, and expanding equitable access to capital for small businesses. Victoria Watkins grounded the conversation in financial sector leadership, law, and long-term wealth-building strategy.

Thank you to Malcolm X College for partnering with us and helping create space for this important community dialogue. We also extend sincere appreciation to our Branch President, Remel Terry, for moderating the conversation with care, clarity, and purpose.

Conversations like this matter. They strengthen understanding, spark ideas, and remind us of the power of coming together around the issues that shape our future.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this evening possible.

We are proud to celebrate a historic moment for the Chicago Westside Branch NAACP. ABC 7 Chicago recently highlighted the naming of Remel Terry as our new President, marking the first time in nearly 20 years that our Branch will be led by a woman.
The segment also featured President Terry speaking about this new chapter in leadership.

This moment is about more than a title. It is about legacy, progress, and the continued strength of Black leadership on the Westside of Chicago. We are proud of what this represents for our Branch, our community, and the future of the work ahead.

Please join us in celebrating President Remel Terry, watch the ABC7 feature, and share it with your networks as we continue building on the mission, impact, and promise of the Chicago Westside Branch NAACP.

The NAACP Westside Branch has named Remel Terry as its new president, their first female leader in nearly 20 years.
