Behind every statistic is a real person with a story of strength, resilience, and wisdom.
Meet Sarah, an endometrial cancer survivor, who has two powerful pieces of advice for anyone facing a similar journey:

“Befriend your care team. Learn the names of your doctors, nurses, and staff. See them as people, and this will boomerang back to you. It makes a difference, believe me.”

“If you don’t have a healthcare background, find a friend or colleague who does and bring them to appointments. The language of cancer and the complexity of healthcare can feel like a one-two punch—you don’t have to face it alone.”

Sarah’s story reflects why the Foundation for Women’s Cancer exists: to support patients, families, survivors, and the medical community with resources, education, and research that make a life-changing difference.
You can honor survivors like Sarah by making a gift that fuels hope, advances research, and ensures no one walks this journey alone.

As we reflect on Veterans Day, we honor the brave individuals who have served our country, and recognize their evolving health care needs.

Female Veterans are the fastest-growing demographic within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and face unique health challenges, including gynecologic cancers. It’s imperative that we continue to strengthen support systems and ensure these Veterans receive the high-quality, specialized care they deserve.

At FWC, we extend our gratitude to all who have served, and encourage female Veterans to explore the cancer education and support resources available through FWC. https://ow.ly/hu3450Xm2Qg

A recent study conducted by Leger, commissioned through GSK Canada found many women don’t recognize the warning signs, or may dismiss them as something minor, until the disease has progressed just like Jennifer Pride in the article below.

That’s why increasing awareness is so important. The earlier a gynecologic cancer is diagnosed, the better the chances for successful treatment and improved outcomes.

Know the signs, symptoms, and risk factors for the different gynecologic cancers. Because knowledge truly can make the difference between early detection and late diagnosis.

A recent study conducted by Leger, commissioned through GSK Canada, asked 1,510 Canadian women various gynecological questions with nearly 60 per cent of respondents expressing uncertainty about whether gynecological cancers exhibit early warning signs.

Recognizing Caregivers During National Family Caregivers Month.
Being a caregiver is an act of strength, compassion, and love. It’s also an important role to recognize. Caregivers are essential members of the team in the fight against cancer.

Cancer affects not only the person diagnosed, but also the friends and family who stand beside them every step of the way.

At the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC), we honor all caregivers and offer resources to support you on this journey. From practical tips to emotional support, our caregiver tools are designed to help you care for your loved one, and yourself.

From patient to advocate. After her uterine cancer diagnosis, Christine became a passionate advocate for early detection, urging women to listen to their bodies and prioritize preventative care when symptoms arise.

“Sometimes these conditions go misdiagnosed because they mimic other things,” Christine explains. “I hope to meet people who have heard my story and feel like it helped them along the way.”

Christine’s experience is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, there is always hope—and with the right support system, so much is possible.

Honor survivors like Christine by helping us advance research, education, and awareness for all gynecologic cancers. Together, we can make a lasting difference.

New research highlights that the needs of women facing gynecologic and breast cancers are not static—they evolve throughout the illness journey.

This validation study explores how these needs shift across illness phases and touch deeply on moral dimensions, including:
Recognition and dignity
Relational autonomy
Epistemic balance (including the right not to know)
Stigma

Understanding these nuances can help clinicians and support organizations provide more responsive, patient-centered care.

Medical advancements and therapeutic innovations are progressing rapidly, necessitating corresponding adaptations in the delivery of patient-centered care. This study explores the needs of women diagnosed with gynecologic and breast cancers, using the frameworks of the National Academy of Medicine a...

Did you know that primary va**nal cancer is one of the rarest gynecologic cancers?

A key difference to understand is where the cancer begins:

Primary va**nal cancer starts in the tissues of the va**na.

In many cases, however, cancer cells found in the va**na are actually secondary cancers—meaning they have spread from another primary site, such as the cervix, uterus, v***a, colon, or even the breast.

This distinction matters because it can make detection and diagnosis more complicated.

Because it’s rare, awareness is critical. Knowing the symptoms and seeking prompt evaluation can make all the difference in early detection and treatment outcomes.

If something feels off, trust your instincts and get checked. Awareness saves lives—and sharing this knowledge could help someone else take action too.

Did you know there’s no routine screening test for uterine (endometrial) cancer?

Unlike breast or cervical cancer, uterine cancer isn’t something your annual Pap smear will detect. That means the most powerful tool we have for early detection is you, and your ability to recognize when something feels “off.”

This makes your OB-GYN visits even more important. Get a list key questions to ask, especially if something doesn’t feel right.
