If you're pregnant, save this post! While pregnant, you'll want to avoid retinoids, which have been linked to birth defects, as well as hydroquinone and high-strength salicylic acid.

If you're unsure about a product, always check the label and ask your dermatologist or OBGYN!

Removing an unwanted mole or skin cancer on the face can be scary for the patient. For the best scar, I always consider the natural skin lines of the face. My reconstruction goal is to camouflage scars within resting skin tension lines, so that the scar naturally blends into the skin.

This patient had skin cancer removed with Mohs micrographic surgery, and I used a rotation flap to hide the scar within her smile lines. She is very happy with her outcome!

Want a tighter jawline without surgery? đź‘€

Minimally invasive treatments use heat to stimulate tightening under the skin, helping improve contour and reduce looseness.

The key is knowing if you’re the right candidate. If you're in the Chicago area, you can schedule a consult to learn more!

Curious about minimally invasive options for facial rejuvenation? In this procedure, we use radiofrequency energy under carefully numbed skin to gently heat and tighten the lower face and neck. Many patients feel this approach may support subtle jawline contour and improved skin firmness with minimal downtime. Treatments like this are often considered by people experiencing skin laxity after weight loss.

Have you thought about non-surgical face and neck tightening? Share your questions or experiences in the comments and tag someone who might be exploring options.

As more people choose medication-driven weight loss, there's been a greater need for treatments that can address associated facial volume changes. The FDA has now approved hyaluronic acid fillers to correct temple hollowing, giving injectors another option to treat an area that quietly affects how the entire face looks and feels.

I love hyaluronic acid fillers, but would caution you that this area requires careful technique due to the underlying facial anatomy. To find out more of my thoughts on the new product, read this article: https://www.newbeauty.com/view/restylane-contour-fda-approval-temple-hollowing

Cold plasma looks futuristic! ⚡ I haven’t seen it in action, and I don’t have enough firsthand experience with it to confidently recommend it. In our office, we focus on treatments that are tried and true — ones backed by strong clinical data and real-world results.

Cold plasma looks like something out of a sci-fi movie! I haven't incorporated it yet because I stick to therapies with established data. If you've had this treatment, let us know what you think!

From dull, hyperpigmented skin to glowing, creamy color and texture, we had a full turnaround for this patient!
#1 : first find the cause.
We didn’t jump right into aesthetic skin treatments— because we are physicians — dermatologists— and treat health of the patient first. We first diagnosed her skin allergies using allergy testing, and calmed down the chronic contact dermatitis she had been experiencing, which caused the darkening.
Then I put her on a skin care regimen that helped to lighten and brighten. And then treated her skin with various skin procedures to resurface the skin and remove the color. This is the outcome 🤩
She is thrilled. I am so happy to help her. Did I mention that she is a brilliant and successful and kind too? What a joy to work with her!!

Stretch marks are incredibly common — and completely normal.

They form when the skin stretches faster than collagen can keep up, leading to small tears in the deeper layers of the skin. Over time, the color and texture change, which is why treatment depends on the stage. The most effective treatment options include vascular lasers, resurfacing lasers, and microneedling. No treatment can erase stretch marks, but many can significantly improve their color and texture.

If you’re considering treatment, a board-certified dermatologist can help determine which option is right for your skin type and goals.

Cosmetic Dermatologist Dr. Jordan shares the three most effective in-office treatments for stretch marks, including:

Vascular Laser: The go-to for treating those red stretch marks!

Resurfacing Lasers (Ablative or Non-Ablative): Stimulates new collagen where the skin is torn.

Microneedling: A lighter option to stimulate collagen production!

These are super safe procedures with minimal downtime. If you have questions about whether these are right for you, always check with your dermatologist! 👇
