Research on athletic performance consistently identifies sleep and recovery as the strongest predictors of long-term progress, often outranking training volume itself.

Studies on athletes who add structured recovery, sleep, mobility work, easy-effort active recovery sessions, show better performance, fewer injuries, and longer careers than those who chase volume alone.

The principle holds for recreational athletes too. Adding one or two real recovery days per week tends to improve, not slow down, the gains people are working toward

You've stretched. You've iced. You've bought the night splint, the heel cups, and probably three different pairs of shoes.

And that first step in the morning still drops you.

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most stubborn things we treat, and it is also one of the most rewarding when shockwave is the right fit.

The treatment itself is short, and most patients start noticing changes within a few sessions.

Less morning pain. Longer pain-free stretches. An actual ability to walk to the kitchen without bracing.

Dr. Sean and Dr. Taylor will assess whether shockwave makes sense for you and what to combine it with for the best result.

If your heel has been ruining your mornings, let's get it looked at.

That headache that always seems to start at the base of your skull?

Pretty common.

Patients describe it as a tight, dull ache that creeps forward through the day and gets worse with screen time or stress.

Pain meds knock it down for a few hours, but it's back the next day, same pattern. That's often a sign the headache is coming from the neck, not the head.

Dr. Sean and Dr. Taylor see this regularly and can usually identify the pattern with a thorough exam.

If your headaches have a story like this, come in and let's get to the source.

Memorial Day weekend often kicks off the first real outdoor push of the year.

You start to see pickup games, longer runs, biking on the lakefront, and weekend hikes becoming part of the routine again.

The body adapts very well to gradual increases in activity, but it does not respond nearly as well to sudden spikes in load.

After a winter with less movement, the connective tissues, tendons, and joints often need time to rebuild their capacity.

Tendons in particular adapt slowly compared to muscles.

They can take weeks to remodel and strengthen in response to new demands.

This is why injuries around this time of year often show up as nagging tendon pain that seems to appear out of nowhere.

The goal is not to stop moving entirely.

The goal is to ramp up activity more gradually, build in recovery days, and pay attention to the early warning signs your body is giving you. 💪

"Wait, you're going to put needles in me?" We get this a lot.

Dry needling sounds intense, but most patients say the actual sensation is far less than they expected, often a brief twitch in the muscle and a heavy, relaxed feeling afterward. It's especially helpful when a knot just won't release with massage or stretching alone.

Dr. Taylor and Dr. Sean use it as part of a bigger plan, not as a stand-alone fix.

Low back pain affects roughly 80% of adults at some point, and prolonged sitting is one of the most reliable contributors.

Studies measuring spinal disc pressure show that sitting loads the lumbar discs more than standing, especially when slouched. Office workers who shift positions, stand briefly, or walk every 30 to 60 minutes report significantly less back stiffness than those who stay seated all day.

The takeaway is not that chairs are bad. Motion is medicine for the lower back, and stillness is what tips the scale toward pain.

For anyone stuck at a desk, active sitting is the starting point. Staying engaged through your core and hips, instead of collapsing into the chair, takes real load off the lumbar discs over the course of a day.

Holding that gets easier when two other pieces are in place. Chiropractic adjustments keep the joints in your spine moving freely, so your body is not fighting stiffness. Postural strength exercises build the muscles that support good alignment without you having to think about it.

If desk work has been leaving you stiff or sore, come see Dr. Sean or Dr. Taylor for an evaluation.
