Our Story
The University of Illinois at Chicago’s School of Public Health (UIC-SPH) Minority Health Conference (MHC) is a student-led event developed out of a need to highlight minority health issues. It is run as a sponsored partnership through the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and aims to advance the discourse towards an action-oriented agenda that will address disparities in chronic diseases and the related determinants of health that plague marginalized communities. Each year, attendees from across the healthcare industry will come together promote prevention, policy development and culturally-tailored programs through knowledge dissemination, critical discourse and partnerships to uncover the health challenges encountered by minorities and build on best practices for eradicating health inequities throughout the life continuum. Our agenda engages concerned students and professionals from a variety of disciplines including health, housing, and education; and community members working to advance efforts towards eradicating minority health inequities.
