If you’ve ever felt like you had to “overcome” your disability just to be accepted… this is for you.

Disability pride says:
You don’t have to hustle for dignity.
You don’t need to prove your worth.
You don’t need to be “inspiring” to be valid.

Therapy can be a space where you don’t have to explain or mask parts of yourself just to feel safe.

You deserve support that honors your body, your brain, your energy, and your truth.

✨ You’re allowed to just exist. No fixing. No performing. Just you.

Explore disability-affirming therapy that centers care, not performance.

Mental health hits differently in communities of color.

Sometimes it looks like strength. Other times, silence.

But underneath it all, there’s pain that deserves care, not minimization.

Therapy doesn’t erase the harm.

But it can help make space for truth, healing, and liberation.

Whether you’ve been gaslit, overlooked, or shut down, your experience matters.

✨ You deserve support that sees your full humanity.
✨ You deserve therapy that doesn’t ask you to explain your identity just to get help.

You don’t have to be “put together” to go to therapy.

You don’t need the perfect words. You don’t need to know where to begin.

Here’s what you are allowed to say in session:
🧡 “This is hard to talk about.”
🧡 “I’m afraid of changing.”
🧡 “I feel embarrassed.”
🧡 “This isn’t helping the way I hoped.”
🧡 “Can we slow down?”
🧡 “I’m proud of myself.”

Therapy is your space to be real, not perfect.

At Head/Heart Therapy, we work with teens, adults, LGBTQIA+ folks, poly individuals, and anyone who’s done shrinking themselves to survive.

You deserve a space where you can say what’s really on your heart and be met with care, not shame.

Therapists don’t always show it… but we’re your biggest fans. 👏
Here are a few things we low-key LOVE to hear in session (even if we stay chill on the outside):

“I actually tried that grounding tool and it worked.”
“I caught myself being self-critical.”
“I’ve been thinking about what we discussed last week.”
“This is hard to talk about, but…”
These are HUGE.
Not because we need you to make progress fast.
But because we know how hard it is just to try.

At Head/Heart Therapy, we work with teens, adults, and everyone in between who’s navigating trauma, identity, relationships, or just figuring out how to be human.

No pressure. No judgment. Just support that meets you where you are.

If “just breathe” ever made you feel worse, not better, this is for you.

So many of us were taught that yoga is quiet, calm, and bendy.
But for folks with trauma, especially those who are q***r, BIPOC, or chronically dissociated…

Yoga can be messy.

It can be shaking, crying, checking out, coming back.
It can be rage.
It can be finally feeling something.

Coming back to your body isn’t always graceful. But it is sacred.

What’s one thing that made your body feel like yours again?

Doesn’t matter how big or small, your story might be exactly what someone else needs to see today. Drop it in the comments. Let’s hold space for each other.

Men’s Health Week is about more than annual checkups, it’s about emotional wellness.

Let’s be honest, many men weren’t taught how to feel safe.

At Head/Heart, we help unlearn silence and rebuild connection with self and others.

You're allowed to feel. You're allowed to heal.
DM us if you're ready to break the silence around men's mental health.

This Pride Month, we honor every q***r, trans, and nonbinary soul doing the sacred work of healing in a world not built for you.

You are not too much. You were never broken. Your identity is medicine. 💜

We celebrate you. We see you. We hold space for your liberation.

Drop a heart, a flag, or a word that feels like freedom to you.

Let’s fill this space with visibility, joy, and radical softness. We’ll meet you in the comments. 🌈

Illinois: HB1085 is stalled in the Senate, and time is running out.

This bill sets minimum pay rates for therapists so more providers can afford to take your insurance. Mental health care shouldn’t cost $200+ per session on top of premiums.

Tell your State Senator: PASS HB1085 before adjournment!

It’s easy to judge ourselves for these behaviors, thinking, “Why am I like this?” or “Why can’t I just be normal?” But the truth is, these responses were once necessary for survival; your mind and body adapted to protect you.

The problem? What once kept you safe might now be keeping you stuck. You don’t have to live in survival mode forever. 💛

🌿 What healing looks like:
✔️ Catching yourself before over-apologizing and asking, “Did I actually do something wrong?”
✔️ Letting yourself ask for help without guilt.
✔️ Saying “no” without explaining or over-explaining.
✔️ Allowing yourself to feel emotions instead of shutting them down.
✔️ Facing difficult conversations with self-trust instead of fear.

This takes time, and healing isn’t linear. Some days you’ll still default to old habits and that’s okay. The goal isn’t perfection, it’s awareness and growth. 🌱
