By pairing athletes with guides we create a space of fun, inclusion and a love for running, walking or rolling! Every day, in parks, gyms, and tracks all over the world, Achilles provides athletes with disabilities with a community of support. Able-bodied volunteers and disabled runners come together to train in an environment of support and community. Within this community, runners gain measurable physical strength and build confidence through their sense of accomplishment, which often transfers to other parts of their life.

There’s has not been a dry Thursday yet for a few months but that is not stoping us! Today we welcomed new guide Helen who walked with Maureen and former Achilles LA guide, Gunner, who ran with Tim! We are so grateful for all fun we are having even in the rain 🌧️ ☔️🏃‍♀️

Practice was brought to a halt today to watch this little squirrel eat a Portillos Chicago style hot dog🌭
The squirrel then sat around and watched our athletes and guides crush it on their Saturday workout🐿️

Achilles Chicago had the best outing at The Shedd Aquarium this morning! We showed up over 30 strong to learn a little more about our world and have some fun! Our tour was fully accessible and the audio description from our guide Brian was phenomenal! Thank you so much to The Shedd for inviting us in and making sure the tour was accessible to all! Our tour guides Brian and Stephanie you rocked it! Hope you all had fun and see you back at UIC next Saturday 🐙🐠🐬🪼

The drawing is open for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon.🗽Fifty years ago, our late founder Dick Traum stepped to this start line for the very first time. He was the first person to ever run the marathon on a prosthetic leg.

One brave decision became a movement. One race became a lifetime of miles. One step became a global community.

He didn’t just transform his own life, he changed what the start line looks like. Today, every Achilles athlete who lines up carries his legacy forward. And every mile run, walked or rolled in New York City echoes that first courageous step.
